Great new rooms very clean and comfortable. Daily they provided sparkling, still water and coffee pods at no additional cost. Right in the heart of old town, great restaurant in the hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Could not ask for a better experience. Highly recommend.

Room used the space well. We had everything we needed. Still Water was provided, as well as tea and biscuits. All the places were very close by and at a walkable distance. The restaurant was decent. Breakfast was good, Dinner portions were small, but it was ok to taste.

Not accommodating

Great location, near enough to be close but further away from the busy mile. Restaurant food was very good as were all the staff. Downside is the lifts, can be very slow!

Great location for a few nights in Edinburgh. Location was very convenient to the royal mile. There was construction going on nearby, which made the surrounding area not ideal.

We liked the proximity to the Royal Mile and Waverly train station, as we were staying here for 20 days. The room and bathroom were very nice. The restaurant was useless to us because of our fish and seafood allergies. We were assured at least 10 times that they would take special care not to have any cross contamination and then went ahead and deep fried our french fries in the same oil as fish. We luckily asked again because my throat felt funny after eating a couple of french fries, asking if they had been cooked in the same oil as fish, to which they responded yes! We immediately had to take a couple of Benadryls and get out our epi pens and decide whether to call the ambulance. We were offered a lousy 25% discount on our meal from the food manager, even though we had barely started eating. We then went to the front desk to report the incident. They were much more caring and the manager said we would not be paying anything for our meals. They also had us sit in the lobby so they could keep an eye on our reactions to the fish exposure. When we finally went to our room, they checked on us until we felt we would be ok. This was greatly appreciated but we couldn't chance eating there again. Very disappointing.

Booked for a special trip for my husband’s big birthday. Wouldn’t stay again. The whole street and surrounding area is an active building site. We were given a room at the back on 2nd floor, so a lovely view of diggers and workmen - really noisy. The room was tired and scruffy around the edges. Not what I’d expect for £350 per night. Really disappointed.

Lovely hotel and great location

The hotel and staff were lovely but the issue for me was noise. I had to ask to move rooms after my first night - I was put in a room at the back of the hotel and was woken before 7am by very loud building works. I know this isn't the hotel's fault but it would have been good to know in advance as I probably wouldn't have chosen to stay here. I was put in an accessible room which seemed a bit strange because I don't have a disability and I wonder if this is because I was a solo traveller. I tried to phone reception using the phone in the room but it wasn't working. The hotel moved me to a room at the front of the hotel without any issue but I thought the windows were open in the room open because the traffic noise was very loud; they weren't. Fortunately, I always take earplugs with me when I travel (past experience) but sadly the traffic noise did impact on the enjoyment of my room. The room was lovely and staff were also very professional and helpful.
