Gave us the wrong room initially but corrected. Large room & bathroom, nice pool to cool off in. Great staff. Nearby Beach Club is right on the beach & excellent

Taavetti positions itself as a five-star property. In its current form, I would rate it a strong four — and with a few thoughtful refinements, it could comfortably reach true five-star boutique level. I originally booked three nights and extended for six more, which already says a lot about the overall value and comfort. Highlights: • Excellent value for what you receive. • Peaceful, largely empty stretch of beach — a real luxury. • Relaxed beach club with direct ocean access. • Breakfast is good; lunch and dinner are very good (the barramundi was excellent). • Kind, attentive staff. Romaya, the owner (based in Canada), clearly has a vision and strong foundations are in place. Things to note: The hotel and beach club (also the main restaurant) are separated by the main road. It’s manageable, but you do need to cross to reach the beach. The beach club extension is still being completed. From the front it looks polished; from the sea you can see unfinished concrete upper levels. For me, pricing reflects this. WiFi at the beach club needs strengthening — especially for guests working remotely. To move from 4 to 5 stars: • Replace plastic water bottles with glass mineral bottles. • Swap plastic straws for paper or metal. • Upgrade toiletries to refillable ceramic or glass containers, ideally partnering with a local Ayurvedic brand. As someone who works with hospitality properties worldwide, I share these as constructive suggestions. Overall: would return.

Clean and nice beach club

Hotel was lovely and all of the staff were courteous, kind and absolutely could not do enough to help. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The description on Hotels.com however is a little misleading. Whilst the associated Taavetti Beach Club which serves great food is situated right on the Beach, the hotel building itself is actually accross the road and not next to the beach. Also, the hotel is not an 18 min walk into the Galle Fort area - in fact it is about 48 minutes. However, it's easy to get a Tuk Tuk into town so that's not a huge problem & overall, we enjoyed our stay. Thank you again to the lovely staff.

Front desk lady gave different information regarding check out time and the free breakfast. Her approach was not hospitalable to say the least.

Charming boutique hotel. Although the surrounding area (3 km west of Galle Fort) is unassuming, the hotel itself is in a beautiful colonial style with every detail and unique decoration carefully thought through. The restaurant, just across the street and on the beach is also beautiful with excellent food. Highly recommended.

The place was beautiful design. Thats what I want in hotels. The staff were lovely. Amaan, Viraj and Nethmi were wonderful. This place is an oasis off the busy city street down to the Fort. If you want to stay away from the touristy Fort area on the coast, with a private beach, this place is for you. The only feedback I have for them is be clear about restaurant times. It said on menu in room 6p. I went down 6.15 and was told my meal would take 1 to 1.5 hours. This won't work for families with children. It is a beautiful new hotel but if they want to be one of the best, this is important to be organised & have good communication.

Even before we left home, the staff at taavetti was responsive and kind and helped us organise a driver who picked us up (and waited for us to sort out an issue with our bags!) at colombo airport with a sign. Upon arrival they were welcoming and smiling and provided us with cold towels and a refreshing mango juice. The property is spectacular with great antique furniture, lush vegetation and a very pretty pool. The arches throughout the property really add to the charm too. They took care of our bags and we even got upgraded to a massive room with a huge open bathroom and bathtub and a balcony with a partial sea view (room 8). The property was spotless and the bed huge and very comfortable. The wifi worked well too. The property is only a very short tuktuk ride away from galle fort with all restaurants and cultural activities. I also managed to book a massage on my first evening on arrival which was wonderful after a long flight. The therapist was attentive, thorough and applied the pressure that I wanted leaving me relaxed and happy. The massage room was beautiful and has a glass ceiling and I could hear the rain patting on it as I was getting massaged. Pure bliss. Throughout our stay the staff was attentive and regularly checked on us and had open line on communication through WhatsApp making it easy to chat and get everything we needed. This was the perfect experience and we would highly recommend taavetti and would love to come back one day!

Such a beautiful hotel and friendly staff. Easy access to the beach ( once you make it across the street), and a lovely hotel kitty!
