We have stayed at the Copthorne hotel before, whilst visiting family in Plymouth. However, unlike previous visits, there seemed to be a general lack of interest in the customer. This was most apparent at breakfast service where, on more than one occasion, food items had run out and staff had to be asked more than once to replace them. The hotel has no air conditioning and ,therefore, it is important not to take a room on the fourth floor - the hottest as we were told by a member of reception staff. Presumably, it was reception staff who had allocated us the room which on two nights reached over 30 degrees. A ceiling fan and a free standing fan did little to alleviate the problem. Generally , it would seem the hotel favours tour groups at the expensive of the independent traveller. Will think twice before booking again

Very nice clean hotel,however the rooms are a bit dated and there is no air con in the bedrooms so I had a very hot night as the one window only opened around 100mm!

Staff very helpful. Clean rooms. Smooth check in and out. Had a standard room so no air con - only con - very hot in this heat.

Didn’t get the reserved parking space I booked but I got a space so not an issue. Room was fine, breakfast was fine. Staff were good. Hotel looking a little bit tired.

Has Twin Room absolutely spotless and a lovely room Staff were great Breakfast was amazing help yourself and so much to choose from Hotel in town centre great location

Good place to use as close to railway station

From my first contact at booking, the reservation staff at the Hotel were extremely helpful & I would say they went above & beyond my expectations. I had accessibility requirements & again they went above & beyond to make sure I had an accessible room which made things a lot easier. I had a good nights sleep, breakfast was good, all staff were polite & happy to help & gave me the impression that they cared about the level of service they were providing. A Special mention to Gemma & The Housekeeping team as I had left a item by accident, I discovered when I returned home & called reception, Gemma found my item, & called me back to let me know. The item has now been collected & it will be back with me shortly. So I’m extremely grateful, I would recommend this hotel for all the above reasons, plus it is close to the Train Station & in the heart of the city making it a perfect base close to amenities. A well deserved 5* Rating! Thank you.
