Okay, the hotel concept and location is to die for. The beach itself is otherworldly- I’ve been to a ton of beach towns and it was stunning scenery. Book the beach view room. You won’t regret it. However. The pool was closed, we suffered a sand dune storm our second night having left the property we were completely unable to return to it until a bulldozer came and cleared the roads. All in the name of adventure. The storm is no fault of the hotel I’m just mentioning it because location was very natural and subject to the environment around the property. The housekeepers and bar staff were competent and kind. The front desk staff… a mess. They didn’t have our reservation when we arrived and it was pretty chaotic considering I was getting married during our stay. However it all worked out and let us use the event room late at night on a whim. Property does have some black mold. The breakfast was delicious. The other staff have poor communication and zero urgency. Overall, I’d give it a 6/10.

Terrible place don’t ever stay there very nasty personnel

The overall place was very clean and functional. Large bedrooms, comfy beds, quality bed linens, very hot and powerful showers. As noted elsewhere, the place needs extensive redecoration as the 1970s is no longer that fashionable. The views were great, the bar and restaurants had great quality dishes (and good choice for such an isolated place). All staff (housekeeping, restaurant, reception) were extremely friendly and helpful.

This place is legendary! A classic hotel with wonderful views! The staff were first class! The pool was massive!

Fantastic hotel with a lot of history and charm. Regardless of whether or not it’s been updated, it’s a locally owned hotel by a man who is over 90 years old that’s dedicated his life to the spirit of the hotel. This, in itself, is what gives the hotel 5 stars. Outstanding service, breakfast, unbelievable views and pure serenity with a piece of original history of Cascais left in your heart after departing.

This is a must do hotel. There’s no doubt that The location and scenery are beautiful. However, it is to be visited once and that is it. We would not return. I had high hopes that this place would be incredible. It fell short of that. There’s one thing having a hotel that is outdated but there’s another thing having a hotel poorly maintained. Rooms felt as if they were not fully finished. Don’t get me wrong. They were clean but you can’t promote a hotel to be 4 stars and it barely having a proper bed to sleep in. It had two single beds pushed together with a sheet on top. Pillows that you can tell had been overused. No hair dryer. The hotel inside smelled like mold. The morning breakfast served poor food. Ham and cheese was the best on the menu. The swimming pool was being repaired upon arrival. Mind you the website clearly stated that it would be functioning starting June 1. Not the case. The pool deck was dangerous to walk on. The paint was coming off that as you walked it poked your feet. If you stepped wrong it would for sure cut you open. My three year old almost fell through the wooden old planks in the deep end part as we crossed the pool deck. The beach is right next door. That made it super accessible. It is naturally a very windy spot definitely made more for windsurfing etc. not for laying but we made the best of it. Just heads up. Overall yes do come and experience it—once. The view is the 4 stars it claims to be But not the hotel itself.

Excellent reception staff who helped organise replacement bike when puncture. Great food and bar staff, excellent views of beach surfers or kite surfers from the restaurant at sunset!

Les meilleurs vue possible un hotel qui a beaucoup de cachet du a son histoire viens avec une petite odeur au debut mais on s'y fait rapidement le charme et la vue de l'endroit vaut vraiment la peine a besoin d'amour ne pas se fier a la première impression au debut j'étais vraiment pas convaincu mais finalement la meilleure place de mes vacances staff tres familliale jai également eu la chance de rencontrer le propriétaire de 96ans tres sympathique comme homme un staff qui se tiens merci beaucoup nourriture tres bonne au bar et au resto et les déjeuner aussi

What a great property! I would stay there again if I make my way back to Portugal

The property could be so beautiful but is sadly so so run down. Our shower head was so low only suitable for a child. Burnt out Light bulbs in bathroom made it hard to shave and they didn’t have a replacement considering the entire hotel uses these bulbs. The tv did not work at all despite 3 days of complaining. Even after and finally a tech visit on our last day. The veranda was not swept nor cleaned. Had to ask for special cleaning. Sure it’s windy and sandy. And they should know that. Most windows were new and updated and keyless entry was nice. The pool and spa area are beyond repair or use and completely closed off and barred Couldn’t even use lounge chairs. Staff and other guests smoked at entrances in No Smoking marked area so entrance smelled terribly of smoke. Met the 96 year old owner and his mid 50 son who seemed nice. This property has amazing views and so much potential but sadly has been neglected far too long that I can’t see a possible comeback. The interior has wonderful character and many many lounge areas. Overall we enjoyed our stay but we had to close our eyes to so many depriving elements.
