Kind owners and a great breakfast, with lots of homemade granola and jams to enjoy. Room was nice and comfortable, but stiflingly hot - with the provided fan too noisy to be useful. Close to town, so an easy walk to see the sights.

The room was perfect for our family of 3. While it was very hot and there is no AC the window in the evening with a fan helped a bit. Out of the main area but a short walk. Excellent fresh breakfast options.

We had a lovely trip to Monkbridge house, the hosts let us check in early as we had a wedding and were very accommodating. They are super organised with reminders about your stay and lots of helpful info when you arrive.
The room was beautifully decorated with a vintage dressing table which was stunning. The gardens are clearly extremely loved and a lot of time and effort has gone into them as they are beautiful.
The location is great you can walk into the centre in no time at all.
The breakfast was great, with hearty portions and Paul’s homed made butter and soda bread being the real highlight. There were lots of lovely touches and you could tell the hosts had spent a lot of time and energy to make our stay comfortable.
We would definitely come back here when are in York.

Had a two night stay and was very happy with my choice. The superior double room was great. Excellent bathroom. Homemade biscuits in room which I thought was a lovely touch. The breakfast was excellent - couldn’t fault it. Homemade jams/marmalades. I would definitely stay there again !

Everyone was really friendly and helpful, we had a lovely room, and an excellent breakfast with so many home-made items.
Would most definitely recommend staying here, which we will do when next in York

Lovely owners, very helpful with my last minute additional booking, delicious homemade granola, stunning house, beautifully decorated, v comfortable beds, rooms have extras like sherry waiting in your room and homemade shortbread, so easy to walk into town from here

Lovely location on a quiet street about a 15minute walk to the Minster (if you don’t get distracted by all the things York has to offer along the way). The River Foss opposite and a stunning back garden mean the views from every room are lovely. The rooms are charming, with comfortable beds, modern ensuites, and plenty of plugs. What the hosts have done with this old house that dates to at least 1864 is amazing - no wonder they’ve won awards. Fiona is warm and welcoming; Paul buzzes about the kitchen turning out scrumptious breakfasts. Local yogurt, fruits, fresh croissants, homemade butters and jams, and homemade Irish soda bread were just a few of the delights that rounded out the hot breakfasts.
Guests are offered a reasonably priced honour bar in addition to the coffees and teas (and welcome glass of sherry!) in every room.
Everything is simply top notch.

Wonderful stay at MonkBridge House. Paul and Fiona were incredibly warm, friendly, and knowledgeable hosts who made us feel very welcome. The breakfasts were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The rooms were bright, spotless, and well-equipped with everything we needed. We especially loved the thoughtful touches like the freshly baked shortbread cookies in the room. Highly recommend for anyone visiting York.
