Breathtaking Views & Perfect Hospitality in the Heart of Matera. Our stay at Fra i Sassi Residence Matera was absolutely spectacular! Perched right in the heart of the historic Sassi district, the location couldn't have been more perfect. We were surrounded by the ancient cave dwellings and stone architecture that make Matera so unique, and the views from the property were nothing short of breathtaking especially at sunset when the entire valley glows golden. It felt like we were sleeping inside a living postcard. The room was incredibly spacious and well-appointed, with plenty of room to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring. The bedding was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring we had restful nights, and the air conditioning was a true lifesaver during the warmer hours, quiet, efficient, and much appreciated. What really elevated our experience, however, was the staff. From the moment we arrived, they were warm, welcoming, and extremely professional. The check-in process was seamless and hassle-free, with clear communication and helpful local recommendations. The inclusive breakfast was expansive and delicious. Check-out was equally smooth, making our departure stress-free. If you're visiting Matera, do not hesitate to book here. The combination of unbeatable views, spacious and comfortable rooms, and genuinely friendly service makes Fra i Sassi a standout choice. We can't wait to return!

The staff here are so accommodating. They contacted me prior to the trip to help ensure we had airport transportation. We were easily able to communicate. The front desk staff were lovely and speak English. They also helped us call taxis during our stay. The room was very nice with our own private patio. There is daily room cleaning. The included breakfast buffet had a nice selection. The hotel is located in a central area in the Sassi. We were able to walk to most places.

Very unique room we stayed in. The cave was magnificent, very spacious and comfortable. The terrace outside was exquisite! The room had a dehumidifier that was working the first night, but we noticed on the second night, It wouldn’t come on. So the air was damp that night. Would definitely stay here again and again !

Staying at Fra i Sassi Residence was definitely a highlight of our trip. The hotel is located in the Sassi with a fantastic view of the old city! We stayed in the Cave Apartment which was very nice! The air conditioning worked well in conjunction with the dehumidifier (all the caves can get a little damp). We were surprised to see the room included a kitchenette which was not mentioned in the description, but turned out to be extremely convenient! Check-in was very smooth and the staff were very friendly. It was a bit of a trek to get from the reception to our room and staff gladly brought our bags to our room for us. Whew! The hotel is located within walking distance of the center of town and has quite a few good restaurants nearby. Wear good shoes and be prepared to walk uphill and downhill! The included breakfast was very nice and provided a great start to our day! We enjoyed just sitting outside our room in the evening with a glass of wine, watching the gentle glow of the lights in the Sassi. Great stay!

Wow !!! Stop looking you have found a gem !! Amazing room with a lovely terrace to enjoy aperitivo. Great staff with great recommendations, help , friendly. Breakfast was excellent If you have a car follow their instructions. Great to park car & do transfer . This town deserves to spend a few nights to really enjoy this unique experience Thank you again amazing staff

We had a fantastic stay. We highly recommend it. Staff was really friendly and helpful with booking dinners and providing recommendations. The room was spacious and quiet! The comment area terrace was the best. Coffee in the morning or a drink in the afternoon. A wonderful stay.

Beautiful setting in the heart of the old town. Very nice included breakfast, and friendly, helpful staff. No parking in the old town, and no valet as indicated on web site. But well worth it!!

Absolutely perfect stay. Cannot fault any part of it. Room was beautiful, breakfast was fab, and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. 100% recommend.
