This is a hotel of contradictions, room was pretty average but clean and the location was great/safe. Stonebreakers breakfast and special event food was actually pretty good for a hotel restaurant. Had some issues with billing, room key malfunctions, and relatively thin walls... but the staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to try to resolve them all. A huge thanks to Zoe at the front desk for all her help resolving our issues, she personally deserves 5/5 stars. One thing I wish they could fix is the loud screaming seagulls every morning, tough way to start your day. Overall good, but could be great.

Great hotel, a short walk from the waterfront. Lovely staff working in a beautiful historic building! Highly recommended!

This is a fantastic hotel close to the V & A Waterfront. Staff are helpful and you have everything you need. Bus and boat tours are very close and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. Lots of food and shopping options nearby, also the Watershed market.

Staff was professional and accommodating. The property is attached to a college campus so the rooms are like dormitories. It served us well for an overnight stay before our early morning flight

We went down to Cape Town to participate in the 2026 Cape Cycle Tour and decided to stay closer to the start and finish lines. We stayed at the Protea Breakwater Lodge a few times before and found it to be perfect. We'll probable do the same in 2027.

Wonderful staff and amenities -- and the location was perfect! Woke up to a stunning view of Table Mountain, two steps away from all the activities at the Waterfront.
