The basis of my one star review is that the hotel made me pay for breakfast for a child in my party. I'll give my explanation, and then I'll give the hotel's explanation. I booked the hotel for two days, for 5 adults and 2 children, and I booked it to include breakfast. However, when I went to the buffet (which was objectively excellent), the hostess said I had to pay for one child (4 years old). I asked for the front desk manager. The front desk manager said that because we were assigned 6 beds, we paid for only 6 people, and so I had to pay for the child. I showed the hotel manager the receipt from Hotels.com which showed "5 adults, 2 children, breakfast included" and asserted that I paid for 7 breakfasts The hotel manager said that it was not their policy, because I was given 6 beds, I paid for only 6 breakfasts, and to take it up with Hotels.com's website. I realized I was not going to get anywhere with the manager. So I decided to pay for the child, and I have the receipt to prove it. The next day, I decided to not eat breakfast at the buffet, as a matter of principal, because I did not want to pay again, so the hostess allowed my 6 guests to eat. So I ate breakfast from the Lawson's Market (and I have the receipt for egg salad sandwich, onigiri, and water). Another thing I want to point out, I felt like the hotel was understaffed, as the lounge area was not well-kept, which surprised me, because I thought the rest of Japan was pretty clean wherever I went.
