This is a hotel that is now really run down. The room smelled stale. The windows are permanently sealed. The shower did not work properly. The plugs are in weird places. The gym is run down and shabby. The elevators are under repair. The service in the bar was slow. The whole place just feels tired and musty. I am lazy and generally do not write reviews but this place needs a wake up call.

Our bathroom didn’t work and neither did the shower. No water!!! Spa was amazing though.

Location is right in the heart of town and close to everything. The historic aspects of the hotel and the Moorish design is fabulous. However, guest rooms felt a bit tired and in need of an upgrade. Staff is great and amenities like the restaurant, gym, and valet were also great. I recommend giving this hotel a try.

Staff was exceptional, especially Cassie at the front desk. Housekeeping was amazing providing extra towels when we showed up drenched from the rain.

Was awakened at 1:30 in the morning to a high powered vacuum and the next unit. When opened to door to see people in the hallway, staff said they had a water line burst in that unit and they were sorry. Sorry doesn't help you go back to sleep. You would think they would've turned the water off at that unit, put stuff down, and wait til the morning to do that. The pillows already go flat the minute you touch them. Shower curtain won't stay closed because the rod is sagging. Shower valve wouldn't turn on without it making a loud noise. No mini fridge in the unit. Just was an overall bad experience.

The only positive things I can say about the Casa Monica Resort & Spa are the Starbucks in the lobby, the friendly and efficient valet staff, and the kind gentleman who maintained the pool area. Unfortunately, the rest of our stay was extremely disappointing. Around midnight on our second night, water began pouring through the ceilings in both of our adjoining rooms. The hotel separated our party, placing one of us in a tiny room near the gym instead of finding comparable accommodations. Even more disappointing, no one from hotel management checked in with us the next day, apologized, or made any effort to reunite our group. The hotel also advertises complimentary concierge beach service at a nearby public beach access. The service consisted of two teenage attendants who never acknowledged us. We had to track them down just to get towels, and although the service was supposed to include beverages, none were ever offered. For a property that markets itself as a four star resort, this level of service was unacceptable. We ultimately decided to leave early and check into another hotel, where we had a significantly better experience.

The staff is fantastic! Super helpful. Especially the bell & valet teams. We also had a wonderful server at the restaurant and the Starbucks crew was super nice. The front desk was very busy so it felt a teeny bit rushed-but understandably so. They were also very nice as well. We do love staying here at Casa Monica, but think it needs some updates. The pillows were super flat and the mattress didn’t feel as luxe as it would seem to be considering this is one of the nicest hotels in St Augustine.

Our stay at Casa Monica was extremely disappointing. While the hotel is advertised as a luxury property, it was not managed like one. The customer service was neglectful, and our concerns were not handled with the level of care you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. To make matters worse, there was loud construction noise every day of our stay, making it difficult to relax or enjoy the hotel. There was also a strong mold smell throughout the hotel that made the environment feel unpleasant and not up to the standards of a luxury hotel. We were never adequately informed or accommodated despite these issues. For the price we paid, this experience fell far below expectations. I would not recommend staying here until the construction is complete and these problems are addressed.

6/20/2026 The property has construction going on so at 8am they were hammering constantly so we weren’t able to sleep in. The hammering was constant until 11am when we checked out.
