Solo stay

The hotel is fine, although the area is an industrial estate: getting anywhere takes 40 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by taxi. At the hotel they ask you, in a thousand different ways, to please pay in cash; I assume it must be to reduce taxes. I didn't have any cash on me, but I did them the favor of finding an ATM, withdrawing money, and paying in cash. The funny part came the next day: when I arrived for breakfast there were no juices left, and they told me they were very sorry, but since there were 15 minutes until the end of the breakfast shift, they weren't going to make a single one more. So I went without juice. Moral of the story: help me, but I won't help you. Cleanliness is another area they should improve. The floor in the rooms is covered with hair and who knows how many other things, the result of not vacuuming properly, something you also notice throughout the rest of the hotel: stairs, hallways, and so on. On top of that, some towels smell of damp, a sign that they're poorly dried or poorly washed.

Staff super friendly & speaks great English. Everything was very clean, though we visited in the off-season & the room did smell a bit strongly of cleaning supplies—perhaps the carpets were recently shampooed? It did not bother us at all but people sensitive to strong smells should be aware. The only thing that was a little bit against it is that the radiators kept the room a bit warmer than we would prefer, but that is certainly better than being too cold! Also there were occasional planes flying overhead but it was not so frequent & for the price, convenient location, & friendly staff I highly recommend!

We arrived at 1:30 AM in advance of a 5:30 AM train departure. The front desk could not locate our Hotels.com reservation, then tried to charge us almost double the city tax than was stated in our reservation. We went back and forth between the travel agency and hotel until finally we paid what we were originally quoted in our booking, almost two hours later. Once we got into the room at about 3:30 AM, we were greeted with hard beds, dirty carpets (mud stains) and very dirty towels with lipstick and dirt on them. The sheets and towels were yellowed and looked used. Overall terrible service from this hotel, as we were held up by front desk staff and only ended up getting less than an hour’s sleep. If you are looking for North American or European standards, look elsewhere. There are plenty of budget options in Tashkent to avoid such an unpleasant property with very rude staff. Avoid!
