Great location

Very basic hotel in a very convenient location in the city, close to trams and trains. The lifts were in terrible working condition, causing human jams every morning waiting for 2 working lifts to bring people down. The rooms were very basic and cleaning was only done once in the whole week we stayed. Other days were simply tidying up of the rooms. Room amenities were not replaced daily. There is light seepage all over the room despite curtains, not ideal for people who need to sleep in total darkness.

We enjoyed two nights in Melbourne with our family including two small children, staying at the Novotel on Collins. We booked two rooms. One of the rooms was very good, the second room where the children were staying wasn’t replenished with crockery or glassware after it was used and taken away when the room was serviced. When we requested more by phoning housekeeping we were asked to go from the 12th floor to pick it up ourselves from the kitchen. Only one of the three lifts were working on a very busy weekend, so overcrowding and wait times were problematic especially for the children. The jacuzzi pool was also out of action and not able to be used. The tiles around the swimming pool are incredibly slippery. Rubber matting would help immensely. Our buffet breakfast was fantastic, with a great deal of choice for a family. One of the room service ladies who delivered our meals on the first night was wonderful, very attentive and friendly. The location is excellent but the hotel is in need of some thorough maintenance to service this busy part of Melbourne.

Whilst a great hotel for convenience in f shops s and being in the middle of the city a lot of amenities were out of order including most lifts in the property making a long wait to get out and the spa was not working leaving the kids stuck for activities

Stayed multiple times Excellent hotel and a very handy location

Close to Collins St theatres

The lifts weren’t all working, the staff unhelpful and the hallways filthy. Weren’t advised that rooms only cleaned every second day. The bathroom was filthy with mould. The room keys kept losing their programme which meant more queuing for the lifts and at reception. I have had better standards in lower class hotels

Chose to stay because of the spa but it was out of action. Also requires 2 different sets of lifts to access rooms which can take a fair amount of time. 1 lift was broken during our stay also. Room was not as pictured and had minimal natural light. Staff were friendly and it is located in a good location.

Two of the three lifts didn’t work, the phone and some light switches didn’t work

Great place to stay with kids - they liked the pool and buffet breakfast. The room was neat and tidy and had everything we needed. The lifts were not working which was inconvenient, and the spa was also out of order - it would have been nice to enjoy the spa while kids were in the pool rather than sitting in the cold!
