Second time stay at the family bach, first time in summer and now in winter. Never disappoint! Despite having no tap water on the first night due to record breaking temperature that froze the taps! Staff was very transparent about the whole situation and offered us water to get through the night. Also very helpful and guided us where is safest to park with all the snow around and they clear the roads in the morning for traffic. Best to drive between 10am - 4pm in snow days. Snow chains are not needed but we were told it's a must to have them in car and know how to install if needed. Beautiful views from the house, short stroll to the lake and hot springs. 20 minutes walk to the shops. Towels, bedding, hairdryer and kitchen utensils are provided. Will definitely stay there again. Thank you!

Super thin walls but the view was spectacular and it was super walkable to anything you would need. I'd stay here again.

Enjoy our stay

This was one of the worst customer service experiences we have ever had. On 9 July at around 7:00 pm, after having dinner, we returned to our cabin. The road leading up to the cabins had been closed because it was slippery, so we stopped at the entrance to unload our luggage. We were not trying to drive past the closure or ignore the roadblock. We simply stopped to unload our bags while following the instructions that had been given by another staff member. A female staff member then walked down, moved the traffic cone, and immediately started shouting at us to move our car. She was extremely aggressive and even used the “f word” while speaking to us. We were travelling with young children, who witnessed the entire incident. We were completely shocked. There was absolutely no reason to speak to guests in such a hostile and disrespectful way. If there were safety concerns, they could have been explained politely and professionally. We fully understand the importance of safety, especially when roads are slippery. However, safety does not justify abusive language or aggressive behaviour towards paying guests. This completely ruined our experience and left our children upset and confused. We hope the management takes this feedback seriously and provides better customer service training. No family should be treated this way.

Great location and the room was clean, tidy and just what we needed. Also close to most things in Tekapo. Highly recommend.

Great location with affordable money

No washing towels and no tissue papers inside the room for customers. No night light, had to share toilet and bathroom with many other travelers including some very noisy young children who were runing between toilets, bathrooms, and kitchens. Had to walk a long way to the public toilets and bathrooms which was a nightmare especially during a dark night (we felt lucky that was not raining during midnight when I and my wife went to the public restroom). There were not clothes hooks inside the bathroom either.
