Strathcona Hotel (Union Hotel)

Room was half clean but dirty toilet and toe nail clips on the floor in the bathroom were a turn off. Air conditioner controls did not work - either full on or fully off. Bed and bedding were good. Breakfast Saturday morning with a long line and only one staff member to take orders, make the coffee bar and serve - she did a great job but not a great look for the hotel Rooms are small with no work space and feel sort of like a concrete box Won’t be staying again

The Union Hotel is a great place to lay your head for a night or two while visiting Toronto. The rooms are small, compact and clean-perfect size for traveling through for a short visit. It is easy to find from Union Station and in a location to many great activities.

When I arrived at the hotel around midnight, the entrance was locked. Fortunately, two other guests had a key and were able to let me in. Despite this, I had to wait at least 20 minutes at the front desk while another guest, who was already there, was being checked in. I also requested a wake-up call for the morning, but never received one. Although a staff member apologized, which I appreciate, it is still disappointing from a service standpoint. The room itself was very small, and the air conditioning unit was extremely loud. It was positioned at the same level as the bed, blowing air directly toward my head, making it uncomfortable to sleep. I ultimately had to turn it off. The bathroom appears to have been updated, but the shower design was not user-friendly. For a rate of $430 per night, this was not a satisfactory experience. The only positive aspect of the hotel is its convenient location.

Hallways are a bit loud. Room , single queen, was a tad cramped. Would not be good for a person with alot of luggage.

Clean hotel with cool interior and theming. Staff was very attentive. Excellent location downtown near all attractions and transportation.

Unfortunately our flight got delayed for 11 hrs and we were not able to use the room. Expedia tried to get a refund/or a credit from the hotel. The manager would not budget, yes it was non refundable but you would think that they would have some care and try to work with expedia and have some sympathy for passengers that are dealing with airline delays.

Great location and fun ambiance

The location, staff, and property were excellent. The bed was comfortable, and the AC worked well. My only criticism is that the bathroom was very small. I would definitely recommend staying here if you travel by train or bus. It's less than 5 minutes away from the station.
