The hotel is in a good location. Due to a flight delay we did not get in until 1 AM and Tim was extremely helpful in getting us into the hotel. However at 7:30 AM there was massive construction outside of our room (jackhammering concrete right outside our window). I contacted the Front Desk about the noise (which I understand is not the Hotel’s fault) and the the employee made it sound like there was no noise happening and made me feel like I was imagining the noise. I went outside the building myself and sure enough they were jackhammering concrete just as I expected. The hotel said they were sold out and there was nothing they could do about the noise. I bought earplugs for the next night but again at 7:30 AM we were woken up again. This happened 3 mornings in a row… I contacted the hotel every day but they were unapologetic and offered nothing in return… Not a coffee, not a food voucher, nothing. I spent $2000 on 5 nights here. I asked to speak to the manager and he offered me a future night stay…as kind as that was, we would not be returning to Salem so it did not help. I always stay at boutique hotels when I travel and was honestly surprised how dismissive the staff and GM was and how they did not offer anything because they said it was not their fault and there was nothing they could do. But honestly something could’ve been compensated… a breakfast, a meal, a discount, something. Because of the lack of customer service I would not recommend this hotel.

The location can't be beat if you want to stay on Essex near all the major dining and shopping! The bed was comfy and the room was clean. The room was decorated in a trendy vibe and the rooftop for snacks and drinks definitely appeals to a lot of people. You get a cool view of Essex, though we wish we could have been able to see more from our hotel room. We also wish that there would have been breakfast, a pool, and gym for the price we paid. In addition, make sure you know you will have to pay for your parking and that it is quite a walk if you have heavy luggage. Unfortunately, our room had a very loud buzzing/humming sound coming from the ceiling. That, in combination with very noisy neighbors with kids in the room next door made it hard to sleep both nights we were there. We were surprised that the street noise was nothing in comparison to the irritating loud noise coming from the machinery in our room! Overall, the convenience of the location made it worth it for us this vacation!

Wonderful room overlooking Essex street. Very comfortable and clean. Location is excellent, I enjoyed being able to pop in as needed for breaks.

Hotel Salem was great. The location could not be beat! Great staff. Very comfy beds and pillows.

This is a great modern, clean and well functioning hotel. It is located right on the Essex street pedestrian way and is located right in the middle of the tourist area (an assets for some travelers and a detraction for some others). I’ve stayed here twice as a solo business traveler. The micro rooms have been great for me.

The location was amazing! I would definitely stay there again. The only issue was getting all of our luggage from the car to the building. It would have been amazing if there was a system set up to address this.

Great location. Room was spacious. Staff was wonderful. Will be going back and definitely will stay there. It’s central to everything.

Check-in was easy. Evening Clerk was helpful with our questions. Room was bright and airy. The bed was soft and had many pillows to choose. The toilet is in a water closet while the shower and sink share another small room. Overall pleased with stay. Overnight Clerk was helpful and friendly. Morning Clerk was efficient with check-out . Go to the rooftop bar and view the city.
