We had an amazing night staying in the deluxe suite and it was spectacular. The room in the accommodations could not have been better. The staff in the bar, restaurant and hotel were all very nice and happy to help in any request that we had. Food restaurant was great and the atmosphere was terrific – definitely check out the Abbey directly across the street.

The room we had, 110, is totally unusable when the temperature is high. Window at the front of the room doesn't open due to secondary glazing and the restricted opening window at the back opens onto the kitchen extractor fan! With no air conditioning, which being a listed building is to be expected, the £25 fan doesn't help. We had booked for 2 nights, but left after one and if it wasn't for the fact I'd had a drink we'd have left at 3am as the room was unbearably hot

Stayed in the heatwave as it’s an old property there’s no air conditioning in the room so was unbearable as some windows didn’t open.depends on the staffing levels at busy times were overwhelmed . Breakfast was very good.

Clean and tidy, bed very comfortable, firm how we like it. En- suite was very nice shower very good. Not much draw or cupboard space, but didn’t really need much. Tv was very good with Internet connection. Food was good but not excellent, breakfast was very good although replacing missing items was slow, but staff were very obliging. I thought the bar was a bit lumpy, £7.10 for a pint of Brixton pale ale. £5.60 for similar in the White Hart across the road was more realistic.

The rooms are amazing at the George, food is also something that has to be experieced

Booked an overnight stop in May. Lovely old inn in a nice village. Room was clean, comfortable bed, coffee making facilities etc. very good shower. Very peaceful stay. Food and beer in pub was very good. Friendly helpful staff. Would not hesitate to stay again if in the area.

Beautiful location, excellent if staying with pet, lovely walks in near vacinity. Good selection of food in restaurants and excellent breakfast,

Wonderful stay here, the rooms are immaculate, tastefully and elegantly decorated with thoughtful touches such as discrete low level sensor operated lighting in the en-suite, meaning no one has to turn a bright light on to use the loo in the night! Every possible need was covered in the well equipped rooms, including gorgeous luxury soap and shower products provided. Excellent hospitality and food from the warm welcome from the manager on arrival to the incredible flavours created by chef Ramesh. Coeliac customers well catered for with a number of excellent gluten free options. The pub and restaurant share a number of lovely dining areas which combine old world character with elegant decor and upholstery, making for a very relaxing and comfortable, warm ambience. It’s just as a coaching inn should be! Breakfast was first rate too, and plenty of on site parking and a pretty village and area to explore with good walking from the door too - we can’t commend this hotel highly enough.

Really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is situated in a beautiful village. It was wonderful to stay in an old property which appeared to have been recently renovated. The bed was very comfy and the room was exceptionally clean. Breakfast was fantastic. Bacon and eggs etc were freshly cooked. Delicious choices.
