I booked this place months in advance. The day of, the host sends me a message to call him to discuss the reservation. He provides no phone number. After looking and finding the number, I call him. He tells me there is an issue with the 'tenant' and the location has changed. I ask him if the new place is compatible and he assures me it is. He tells me he will send the new location shortly. It is now about 9:40am. Noon time comes around and I have not heard back from him so I message again. Crickets. 50 min later he responses with 'in a moment'. Still nothing. He finally responds at 1:46pm (check in is at 2pm) with the location of the new place. I believe the host purposely waited until the last minute to send the location because he knew if we had seen the place prior, we would have complained immediately. When we arrive later that evening, the neighborhood is full of abandoned houses, including a boarded up home directly scross the street which looked like it was in a fire. A person high as a kite sitting on the sidewalk and in the street. We didn't feel safe enough to get out of the car, park or even go inside.This is completely unacceptable and totally misleading. Waiting until the last minute to reveal a different location is not okay, especially when it's in an area such as this one. This listing should be removed. This host has several locations by the way. There is nothing 'resort' about this location. I find it hard to believe these 10/10 reviews!

Pretty dirty. The guy was nice but the room was awful and smelled like smoke. Everything was gross, + in a dingy basement. Sorry to be harsh. I would say anyone apart from me would not be okay staying there

This room was disgusting it looked like someone used this room to have sex there stains and dirt everywhere and looks like the place was a shack. Stay far far away from this place

Overall pleasant stay

The rooms are all in the basement of the house, below a permanent tenant who the host told me after days of getting no sleep that she purposely disturbs guests because the 2 of them don’t get along & she’s supposedly being evicted in a few months. This was very upsetting because the host is allowing paying guests to be disturbed all night & day. Kids running & jumping, loud tv & music, nonstop stomping, extremely loud talking that you can hear word for word, constant dropping of heavy items. This noise lasted while after 3 & 4am every single day. Another long term guests in the basement was arguing with a woman for hours after midnight & screamed at me when I asked him to please keep it down - strangely accused me of asking him to be quiet because he was a black man. The host continued to ask me to pay him outside of the app. Terrible neighborhood as well. I do NOT recommend!
