This Ryokan was a bit far from the main

We loved our stay at YuYu Onsen hotel. The staff were extremely polite and hospitable. Thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese breakfast experience and recommend you try it. The booking comes with a 50 min private onsen experience which was thoroughly enjoyable in the evening after a busy day of site seeing. The location even though feels remote and away from shops and amenities (we had no car) is served by bus service ( look up the J number buses). They will drop you right in front of YuYu onsen. I booked based on price and had reservations about how isolated this location was but I need not have worried. The remote location and the surrounding woods only enhanced our experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone planning on visiting Hakone and once again I’m thankful to all the staff that made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. ❤️

Very helpful staff

Wonderful stay! Only issue I had was finding the location. Google Maps brought us to another location but once we got to the hotel the staff was super accommodating and apologetic. The onsen was also lovely!!

This was a no frills, older hotel with nothing around but it was well maintained and clean and the staff was very friendly & helpful and spoke some English. There is a toilet & sink in the room but no tub or shower--you need to go downstairs for the shower and onsen but it's for your own private use (reserve your time to use at the front desk). The bus stop is in front of the hotel but only runs twice every hour. Within a 13-minute walk is the ropeway at Ubako which will take you down to Lake Ashinoko area where you can catch the pirate ship. Having the Hakone Freepass is highly recommended as you can use it many times on the ropeway and pirate ship as well as the Tozan buses. It also gives you discounts at various tourist attractions.

The hotel was relaxing, onsen was amazing, dinner was a limited menu but good. The secenery was stunning. The staff were hard to find at times, overall I would definitely come back.

I enjoyed the private onsen very much, the staff were helpful and friendly, meals were yummy as well! Highly recommend! I will say that is a little hard to get to.

It’s a good idea to message the hotel beforehand to reserve the onsen on the evening you arrive; we were lucky that there was a spot available, but you will have no problem getting a spot any other day. The onsen is such a nice way to unwind after a long day of exploring this gorgeous mountain area. Yoi tabi wo!

Personal onsen experience was the best in my 14 day Japan trip. Outdoor onsen feels like soaking in nature. Very close to Hakone shrine and all most popular spots in area.
