Secrets Aura Cozumel - Adults Only - All Inclusive

The resort was great. Polite and helpful staff. The Japanese restaurant was fantastic. They made our anniversary unforgettable. We will return in the near future. Diving was amazing.

The first thing you notice is how secure this location is. Nobody gets in or out without a room number. There are no people selling you things walking around the beach and the exclusiveness part of this all inclusive is great. While other beaches on the other side of the island are not clean due to the sea weed, this beach is very well maintained and raked daily. We loved the variety of three different pools. The resort grounds are very clean. Our ocean view room had a great view and balcony. We also loved our rain head shower. The room was a bit dated, but the outstanding Service made up for it. For example, Samuel, our guest services person in the lobby, answered all of our questions and took care of us. Moises was an exceptional waiter for breakfast at the market café. All the food was very good. We have stayed at other places and can’t say that. At the Oceana restaurant. Alejandro was a fantastic waiter. The pool waiters and waitresses were always on top of getting a strings. We overall had a wonderful week. Pro tip- if you go to sleep early say before 10 PM make sure your room is far away from the live music and karaoke that they have for entertainment.

I think the hotel itself needs a little touching up. More excursions could be added to the island. The smell of the water at the hotel needs to be looked at. Also the color of the water (brown) needs to be prioritized for maintenance. The staff was very awesome. Great hospitality!! Angel and Carlos was the best!

We chose to go Preferred membership. As previous residents at Secrets Maroma Beach, we kind of had an idea of what this place had to offer. It is a little older of a resort, but they are working hard to renovate the grounds. Checking in was a little of a hassle. They took us to the Preferred area to check in, but it was a cluster and feel that we would have gotten in just as fast at the main lobby. Room service and buffet was good. The room temperature was nice and cool. We were always able to find a set of chairs on the beach. Definitely wear or bring water shoes. We love the beach and was able to find a clear, sandy space a little ways off the beachfront. The swim up bar and pool was okay. Needed to have minor leaves and debris skimmed, but okay. Again-pool area could use a good upgrade. Maybe it was just the time of the year and not as crazy, but the atmosphere was chill and everyone was just relaxing & having a good time. Shout out to Angel -bartender in the Preferred lobby. He made up some killer drinks and had a great time chatting with him!

This was a very nice (adult only) all inclusive resort. My only criticism would be for the cost involved the property could use some updating. Nothing major, or deal breakers. The staff is wonderful, and the on-site dining options are very good. The beach is ok, but not quite as nice as some of the resorts I’ve stayed at in Cancun. But, I will say Cozumel is a lot less hectic and crowded than its sister city across the waterway. And the airport is also much less to deal with. It’s so small they don’t even have jetways. You just do it old-school and walk up the stairs into your airplane. Customs and passport control, same thing. If you do stay at Secrets, I would recommend you spend a little more and go with the rooms where you can just walk out your private patio and get into the pool. The pool is very nice and with low lighting. After it gets dark you can sneak in a discreet skinny-dip if you’re so inclined.

Most of the staff were amazing, however some of the staff at check-in were too persistent/pushy in trying to get you to sign up to be a member in their vacation club scheme. We stayed in the superior suite ocean view rooms and the view was beautiful, but the room needed updating, the bed was lumpy and hard, and the room had a moldy smell to it. If you do stay here make sure you get the preferred option so you get all the amenities (pool, beach, better liquor). It's very apparent/segregated between the two. This was our first time coming back since Hyatt took over (4th stay at Secrets Aura all together) and I can honestly say this will be the last time. Seems to be going in a direction that is catered to the “high class individuals” vs a family atmosphere where everyone is treated with great hospitality and kindness (We were preferred guests, but wanted to share what I observed).

TLDR: DO NOT STAY HERE! Resort is old and dirty, and we had a horrible experience. Do not accept free services for your time to sit in a sales pitch!! We were super excited to come to this resort to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. The pictures online looks nice but in reality, THE RESORT IS IN POOR CONDITION AND WE DO NOT RECOMMENED YOU STAY. Even though we called ahead to notify the staff about our celebration, they still proceeded to place us in a very dirty room. Towels with stains, tiles missing from the showers, big holes in the privacy curtain to our room, holes in the bathrobe, and just overall the finish on the room was so poor quality. NOT EXPECTED FROM A SUPPOSED 5 STAR HOTEL. The staff did assist in moving us to another room but it was only a minor improvement. THEN, our room started to have a water leak, a leak that was caused by the hotel themselves because they were working on improvements on the room above ours. So yet again, we had to move to another room! This was such a poor experience, and severely took away from what was suppose to be an amazing celebration of our 10 year anniversary. Be warned. This was our first experience at an all inclusive resort. VIP services only cares to get you scheduled to meet with salesmen to sell a Hyatt membership. It’s not worth the time and headache. We lost almost 5 hours of our time because of pushy salesmen. They’ll offer to give you free services for your time, DO NOT DO IT!!
