right next to the Ita Thao pier and middle of the shops so it is convenient. Also near the gondola as well. The corner rooms with 2 beds and balcony have great views of the lake and pier. We got 501, 505 and 301. 501 and 301 are the corner balcony rooms. Large rooms with large bathrooms. 301 however has mold spots and insects crawling around. 505 is at the opposite end of the hotel and a regular hotel room size. Breakfast is ok with limited options.

Amazing location and such friendly, accommodating staff. The room we had was unbelievably beautiful…view of the lake and spacious with a spa-like bathroom. The breakfast was also very good. Right in the heart of the street market. One of my favorite places to stay in Taiwan. Can’t wait to go back.

Excellent buffet breakfast, very friendly staff. Hotel was a little bit older, but very conveniently located and comfortable.

Had two lovely nights here and cannot fault the cleanliness or the friendly service. Breakfast was an added bonus and the location was superb - right in the heart of the market but so quiet. We could walk or bus / boat to anywhere we wanted easily. Highly recommend and would love to visit again one day.

Cherng Yuan Hotel was one of the highlights of our trip. The room was beautifully designed and lit, and was definitely a lot of bang for the buck. The desk staff were gracious and polite, and the complimentary breakfast and dining area (on the top floor!) were awesome. Lots of nice little amenities, and the location is perfect for enjoying Sun Moon Lake. There was a dial-your-own espresso machine in the dining room during breakfast - This may not seem like a big deal, but it was a welcomed change after several days of instant coffee packets and milk-heavy cappuccinos in a country that knows its tea, not its coffee. Highly recommended.
