The Strand - A Boutique Resort

As advertised. Nothing special but a nice place on the beach.

I had a very disappointing stay at this resort. There were too many mosquitoes around the property and in the room area. I contacted the front desk and requested that the area be sprayed, but no one ever came to address the issue. In addition, my check-in time was supposed to be 4:00 PM, but my room was not ready until 4:38 PM. After a long day of travel, this delay was very frustrating. Overall, the service was poor, and the staff did not seem responsive to guest concerns. Unfortunately, this was not the experience I expected, and I would not recommend this resort based on my stay.

Disappointed. Not the strand I knew 7 years ago. Breakfast used to feature edible food. There was A negative environment: no cash transactions.Some staff were Officious, and if you had any questions or complaints the response was "Contact your booking agency." We will visit Myrtle Beach in the future but not the Strand!!

The room was very dirty. I guess they're afraid to buy stainless steel cleaner to clean the dishwasher in the refrigerator because they were disgusting on the outside. The floor was never swept. The room was very outdated. The elevators were extremely slow and they had no air conditioning so they were very hot and stuffy. The continental breakfast was average. I didn't care for the South Myrtle Beach area. You can stay in the North end for a better price.

I can’t wait to go back again. Such a beautiful property right on the beach with a beauty of an ocean view from the balcony. I didn’t want to leave. Met a couple there who were heading home as we were checking in, who told us they’ve been coming here for the last 10 years. That says ALOT! Breakfast is included and the restaurant had some great looking options. But we brought & cooked our own food. Nice little kitchen equipped with everything you’d need from home (except a wine opener but the Dollar General was only a short 2 block walk). Washer/dryer right in the room so we came home with zero dirty laundry to wash, which was a win. The only “complaint” I have is the kids that were in the pool & hot tub at night. Pool is open late, which is fine, but they were raising Hell every night. Loud. Just kids being kids. Our room was several floors up directly over the pool. Often times we would look over the railing to see where the parents/adults were and on more than 1 occasion, we didn’t see any. Doesn’t mean they weren’t there, they could’ve just been out of our line of sight. But if they were there, nobody was doing anything to control those kids or keep them quieter. We wanted to go down to night swim but avoided it due to the chaos.

Pipes, pipes, pipes

Overall the property itself was great. Stayed here last year as well. This year the beach was undergoing a rejuvenation so our entire week had a pipe across our beach access. The construction crew said the hotel knew for a long period, hotel claims they didn’t know. They finally removed the pipes on Sunday at checkout. Long week of telling the kids we couldn’t get on the beach. Finally able to get some access by Saturday but very limited.

Todo estuvo bien, el staff súper nice, el servicio de desayuno muy bueno, la piscina excelente. Lo único fue el olor de la habitación era una mezcla entre humedad y viejo que fue algo incómodo para mí en lo personal, del resto no tengo ningún queja.

The resort is in need of a little "TLC". The resort was ok but needed to be refreshed. Our room was a good size and had a great view of the ocean but the carpet was stained and coming up. It's about time for the furniture to be updated. I expected more for the price paid. Overall the resort was nice but I probably won't stay here the next time we come back.

This hotel was great in two areas, location to the beach and the pool area. Everything else about it was mediocre at best. The room was not very good at all. The bathroom had a slippery coating on the floor to start with. Almost lost it on my first step. Secondly the shower was horrible with the ripped shower curtain, the bathtub that felt like you were going to break through and the one small strip of slip mat on the bottom. There was dirt everywhere on the caulking and they used a caulking tape as a seal. I expect that at a cheap hotel but not a beach front hotel. Also had no cold water in the tub to regulate the hot water. There was no electrical outlet in the bathroom at first but the maintenance crew fixed that fairly quick which was great. It did blow out again but at least the reset button worked after the repair. My last thing was the breakfast was ok but didn't change much. The views were amazing off the oceanfront deck. The rest of the room could use updating except for the bed which was descent. Another concern was the check in process where they try to get you to do a seminar for discounted tickets around the beach town. Not a fan of that tactic. And we did go out several times and come back in where the front desk personnel didn't even say hello or acknowledge us. Felt like they were too busy for us.. Other staff were very friendly, though. Overall, you stay at a beachfront hotel for the access to the beach and pool. They did a great job with that for sure.
