Saker att göra i Inverness

Min guide och chaufför för dagen var Keith (26 maj). Jag valde turen till Loch Ness och högländerna. Resan var mycket informativ och lärorik, jag fick en större uppskattning för Skottlands och högländernas historia. Områdena vi besökte och naturen var också vacker. Körningen kändes säker och jag kunde även njuta av landskapet längs vägen.

For anyone with a Loch Ness obsession, this is a very high-value tour that unlocks the Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness in a single day. A significant portion of the time is spent on the bus, and upon arriving at Loch Ness, you stay for about an hour, with the boat cruise taking up 50 minutes. The partner cruise company for this tour is Cruise Loch Ness, departing and returning to the same port, so you won't see Urquhart Castle at all (only tours departing from Inverness go there). It is recommended that as soon as you arrive at Loch Ness, you quickly head to the 'Loch Ness View Point Fort Augustus' spot on Google Maps to take a photo with the Loch Ness sign before boarding the boat. The outdoor second floor of the boat is very windy, while the indoor first floor has heating, and the windows on all four sides have Nessie graphics; we had a lot of fun taking pictures with these designs. The lake view itself is pretty, but has no other distinct features. The scenery of the Scottish Highlands is very similar to Iceland and quite beautiful, but the most stunning views are along the road. There are two or three stops in between to photograph the Highland landscape, plus a spot to take pictures of Highland cows. Because the driving distance from Edinburgh is very long, and UK regulations limit the daily working hours of drivers and tour guides to a maximum of 12 hours, you will feel quite rushed. However, for checking it off your bucket list, it offers great value. If you want to truly experience the charm of the Scottish Highlands, a multi-day tour or a self-drive trip is recommended. Also, the single malt Scotch whisky ice cream at Scotch corner is delicious—you have to eat it no matter how cold it is!

En trevlig tur, en lång men inte tröttsam eller tråkig resa. Alla platser kunde hanteras enligt plan, och det fanns till och med ett tillägg i slutet där vi besökte "hairy coos" igen, eftersom vi inte hann ta bilder i början av turen då vi var upptagna med att handla. Priset var konkurrenskraftigt och teamet var professionellt. En bra upplevelse.

Ian's guide was easy to understand, and he shared detailed and interesting stories about history and legends. He carefully explained the schedule every step of the way, so we could handle long-distance travel without worrying about restroom breaks or anything else. It was a very comfortable and reassuring tour. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Isle of Skye.

Enjoyed a comfortable small-group tour with Timberbush guide Ben. He kept everything on time and all the spots fitted in nicely and comfortably with no hurries. Great locations for a general experience of the Highlands. Besides the main spots in Glenfinnan and Loch Ness, particularly enjoyed the small village of Mallaig and was able to catch the locks in action in Fort Augustus. Ben had a nice playlist of songs of contemporary Scottizh folk music which made the long drives enjoyable with the views and had some nice bits of trivia here and there along the way.

Vår reseledare Callum är så imponerad! Han var en mycket säker chaufför, poddare, DJ och reseledare i ett när han körde oss genom högländerna. Även om vädret var dimmigt och det innebar att en del av landskapet inte syntes så tydligt – det är ju också en del av de skotska högländernas charm, eller hur?;)

Det är en mycket avkopplande sightseeingtur, med bekväma turbåtar och engagerande guidning, som tar dig från kanalen till slottet med ett stopp på vägen, där du kan njuta av Loch Ness storslagenhet. Det hade varit ännu bättre om denna aktivitet hade inkluderat tid för att besöka slottet.
