The Royal Sonesta Washington DC Dupont Circle

This was the third Royal Sonesta that I stayed at this year and it was by far the one I liked the least. I was there for a conference and this was the recommended hotel. Compared to the other Sonesta's I was at this one is older and seems a bit "long in the tooth". There was minimal information or communication from the desk staff. When I checked out I didn't realize the desk person was even there, she was sitting behind the counter and never got up out of her chair the entire time. They sometimes had a door man to open the door but he never smiled, never made you feel welcome. There was nothing in the way of information in the guest room. No directions to ice or vending machines or how to connect to wifi or what services were available at the hotel, or anything about D.C., etc. There is a very nice looking lounge and restaurant but be sure to bring your bank account with you! WAY overpriced. Especially in comparison to the portion size. Two double gin and tonics set me back $70.00. I ordered swedish meatballs as a bar snack. Yes they were good, (not as good as mom made!) but 6 swedish meatballs should never cost $18.00. I had breakfast there the first day....$50.00. Between the prices and the lack of information and the run-down appearance of the hotel, the almost paper-thin walls separating the rooms (should you really be able to eavesdrop on the conversation in the next room?) I most certainly will not stay here again.

Nothing else

We had a great stay and would definitely come back. The location was perfect for exploring Washington, DC, with easy access to everything we wanted to see. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We will definitely recommend it to friends visiting DC.

We were only there for one night with our 2 kids, but the hotel left an impression. The staff was really attentive, the room was modern, clean, and huge, and the royal animal theme was a hit with the kiddos. Very convenient location as well. Would definitely stay again if I come to DC.

I had a great time

The Bar staff was great and we had so much fun talking to Chris

This is a very nice hotel. The room was really clean and nice. The pool was nice too and pretty big. They give you a credit towards their onsite restaurant to use for dinner and breakfast. The only negative thing to say is the surprise when I found out that it was $65 plus tax/fees to park there (vallet). I don’t believe there is any other way to park there. The breakfast was pretty good and the service was great too at their restaurant.

Overall, I had a good stay thanks to the very friendly staff and clean facilities. However, there were a few issues. There seemed to be a problem of the key card system, as another guest accidentally unlocked and opened my room door. Additionally, the Smart TV in my room wasn't working, and the Wi-Fi was extremely slow (though my friend in other rooms mentioned theirs was fine).

Great location, friendly staff. I truly appreciate our experience. I cannot wait to return.

Everything was amazing. The city view was spectacular!
