This is a basic hotel and for the price it’s fine. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet and clean. The furnishings are basic and a little worn but nothing too bad. The staff are friendly and attentive. Breakfast was a little underwhelming but good enough for the price. The gym was pretty good but no free weights. Certainly enough machines for a good workout though. Location is convenient and easy to get around.

The hotel is newly built so some facilities are not ready yet (rooftop bar, spa). If you take a taxi, minimum taxi charge is 25,000 IRD no matter how near you go but taxis are reliable and really quite easy to flag one (although I only choose the white ones). Tara is located really near the cultural street Malioboro, where you can find lots of street food and street shopping (about 10 minutex taxi ride on good traffic conditions). Very near to eateries, pubs, and 15 minutes from the Jogja City Mall.
