APA Hotel Shinagawa Sengakuji Ekimae

Not my prime location, very close to train station. If you have an early flight coming in they will not let you in your room early. The earliest check in is at 11 then you pay per hour till 4. Check out is 10 or pay again. Not great for travelers and flexibility. Thankfully my stay was only one night until meeting up with a travel group at different location.

What's not to like? Its awesome! Location easy to get to the train, subway, and the city bus. The staff is courteous.The people here are the ambassadors of Japan.

Great location. Convenient easy access to public transit, shopping, touristic attractions. Room was clean, quiet, comfortable

Just ok. The beds were too firm and one of the pillows was a literal seat cushion that was useless. The other pillow was minimally fuller, but still too flat for this caliber of hotel. The bedding felt like there was a film coating on them. Didn't feel clean. The carpet was filmy on the feet. Air filtration made it feel really stuffy in the room. Air conditioning was either too warm or too cold. Purchased breakfast each day at booking but only ate there three times out of seven because the food really wasn't good. We had breakfast every day at the nearby convenience store that tasted a lot better. They didn't utilize a translator resource so there was a big language barrier. You think with a hotel this big, they would have some sort of language app at the front desk. It felt cold that comes with a corporate hotel like this. I am a smoker and they had no smoking room. This issue may not apply to you, but I can't understand that a thousand people can stay at this hotel at one time and they think that no one smokes. That is unrealistic. I was told the closest smoking area was two train stops down. Sengakuji as a non smoking city. You are not allowed to smoke outside in this city. They also had only two washing machines and two dryers for the whole hotel. That also is unacceptable. This stay was okay, but I wish I made another lodging choice.

Staff was friendly. Rooms clean. Small rooms but for the price acceptable. Did not have breakfast.

Hotel breakfast was delicious like a restaurant quality food. Spa was very clean and relaxing after a full day of walking. Location was perfect. Direct train to Haneda airport and JR Yamanote line right in front of the hotel.
