The Marker Key West Harbor Resort

Our room was right across from a room used for housekeeping items. It is often very loud in the morning and at night time. The last night we were there, not sure if it was guests or employees but people were talking very loud in the hallway and in the rooms. Lasted until almost 11:30pm and again in the morning. Second day, we did not get housekeeping service until late afternoon. By that time, the housekeeper gave us new towels in exchange for the used ones. Fitness center had clean towels for one day. The rest of the days we were there, towels were not replenished. Last day, we checked out and had our luggage stored at the hotel. We went to go have lunch and when we came back we got caught in a heavy rainstorm. We went back to the hotel to try to get dried off, grab our luggage and get to the airport. Asked the front desk for towels to dry off and they were not helpful and did not want to provide any towels. My husband asked if we can use the towels in the fitness center and was told that was fine but there weren't any towels available. Finally, a bell hop who helped with our luggage prior went to the pool area to get us some towels. He was the only helpful person at the front desk and there were 2 front desk employees working there at that time.

I’m giving it 4 stars only because checkout was mishandled. We had called the day before and requested late checkout just until noon. We never heard from them and assumed they were giving us until noon. They called me at 11:05 and said they were charging me late checkout for being 5 minutes late! I ran up to the room to throw our luggage in the car when the hotel phone rang and again threatening to charge me for late checkout. I never asked how much the fee was but asked them not to charge me as we were loading the car. They didn’t charge me but the experience was very disappointing as I’ve stayed at the Marker close to 10 vacations. They may have lost a loyal customer. I might add the concierge was exceptional at his job. Front desk and checkin was super easy and the DJ was good too.

The location is walking distance to many restaurants and the piers. The pool side restaurant and entertainment very good. Nice balcony to relax after the heat goes down.

Just a heads-up for families: the restaurant and bar close early (around 5:00 or 5:30 PM). While this might not bother guests who plan to hit the town at night, it’s frustrating for families who want to return from a day of excursions, swim, and relax poolside with food and drinks. It definitely limits your ability to unwind on-site in the evening.

Perfect location.....great restaurants, lots of activity around the harbor.

The staff was excellent! From the pool/bar to the front desk. It was a pleasure!

We come to the Marker every year as we absolutely love this hotel. It has amazing rooms, great pool with entertainment and a very good bar. The staff are always super nice and helpful. We highly recommend them as one of the best places in Key West!
