The staff were great, and the breakfast buffet was superb. The hotel itself was a little run down. The rooms stayed cool overnight with ample AC. The gym was almost abandoned, but still useable to a certain extent although stiflingly hot, with only one fan working hard against open windows on the top floor. The pool was really warm (not by design) so not a refreshing dip, with what seemed an excessive amount of chemical that made it feel like your skin was getting more exfoliation than anyone would expect from a pool, and the poolside area was in direct sun all day with hot damp astroturf underfoot not helping to cool things down at all. The rest of the surrounds were lovely and leafy though, with lots of bonsai keeping it green. Overall our stay was fine for what we paid but I probably wouldn’t stay again.

Rooms were massive, pool and bar was amazing and location was close enough to walk or bike into town effortlessly.

We booked six nights in February 2026, and after reading some of the negative reviews we were considering cancelling the booking. We are really pleased we didn't cancel. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast didn't have lots of choice, but was adequate. We never found a problem to get seated, and it was a pleasant environment overlooking the pool. The staff were friendly and helpful, and gave a welcoming greeting to us every morning. The pool was clean, and was never crowded when we stayed. There is a choice of restaurants very close by, where we ate every night before the easy walk into the old town. We stayed at four hotels this visit in Vietnam, two of which were five star hotels, but when looking back over, we enjoyed our stay at the Emotion Villa/ Hoi an, the most favourable. Would definitely, and seriously thinking of staying next year.

Good deal for price, good location, walkable

Nice villa and very quiet. Ponds and swimming pools we great. The only complaint is that the AC system in our room was not functioning all the time so we would wake up from the heat a couple times at night. Friends AC in a groud floor room was fine so perhaps it was just our room.

The room is very spacious. The staff was super nice and helpful. The property is only average. The “ gym” is really just a tiny room with one treadmill, a few weights and no air conditioning. The breakfast is extremely basic with limited options. The place has a lit of potentials and the most outstanding features are the staff and the location. The pool is nice and the bikes are complimentary

Staff was lovely Dog barking every single morning between 6am-7am Unacceptable. Every single morning.
