Wonderful stay! Only issue I had was finding the location. Google Maps brought us to another location but once we got to the hotel the staff was super accommodating and apologetic. The onsen was also lovely!!

This was a no frills, older hotel with nothing around but it was well maintained and clean and the staff was very friendly & helpful and spoke some English. There is a toilet & sink in the room but no tub or shower--you need to go downstairs for the shower and onsen but it's for your own private use (reserve your time to use at the front desk). The bus stop is in front of the hotel but only runs twice every hour. Within a 13-minute walk is the ropeway at Ubako which will take you down to Lake Ashinoko area where you can catch the pirate ship. Having the Hakone Freepass is highly recommended as you can use it many times on the ropeway and pirate ship as well as the Tozan buses. It also gives you discounts at various tourist attractions.

The hotel was relaxing, onsen was amazing, dinner was a limited menu but good. The secenery was stunning. The staff were hard to find at times, overall I would definitely come back.

I enjoyed the private onsen very much, the staff were helpful and friendly, meals were yummy as well! Highly recommend! I will say that is a little hard to get to.

It’s a good idea to message the hotel beforehand to reserve the onsen on the evening you arrive; we were lucky that there was a spot available, but you will have no problem getting a spot any other day. The onsen is such a nice way to unwind after a long day of exploring this gorgeous mountain area. Yoi tabi wo!

Personal onsen experience was the best in my 14 day Japan trip. Outdoor onsen feels like soaking in nature. Very close to Hakone shrine and all most popular spots in area.

Great place for the price. Step up from a hostel that works well for families and has a really nice Onsen for private use. Breakfast was also really nice! Service was also very friendly and helpful. Downsides are the location and the lack of shower in rooms.

Great staff, beautiful property

Good enough stay; overall could improve. Budget option with a nice onsen. People without a rental car, consider there is no shuttle and the bus service to amenities is extremely limited. This area or hotel could benefit from some type of shuttle service, as many of these hotels are located close by to each other and their occupants could benefit from better options to access the nearby tourist attractions and communities. We were checking out during heavy rain and we nor the staff could get us a taxi or uber after trying for an hour. We ended up bussing to a terminal and waiting for 30 minutes to bus to another terminal to eventually get out of the area. Our Hakone Pass did not work on the bus from the hotel, either. You will only be able to get 50 minutes in the onsen per day, per stay, as it only is open in evening. There were heavy winds that kept us up most of the night because the glass doors to the balcony were so drafty. We arrived to the hotel and ordered our breakfast to be delivered to the room the next morning at 8 — at 8:15 we were told it is waiting for us in the restaurant because staff can’t carry up the 2 servings (set on the menu). It must have been there for the 15 minutes because it was soggy and freezing cold.
