Great place. Friendly staff, clean rooms, hearty food and interesting wine list all available by the glass.

Clean tidy rooms, staff where lovely and friendly food was nice and good parking for your car.

Hotel lovely rooms nice and tidy only trouble room 22 king bed is quiet hard apart from that staff are all nice and welcoming and pleasant would use again

Yes the room was spotlessly clean and tidy, only thing was room 12 bed rock hard didn’t get much sleep because of the hardness but rooms were nice size staff where lovely couldn’t do enough for you and brilliant with my grandchildren. Breakfast was lovely as well

Room was quite dated and not very clean

Staff were great, very helpful and polite. Food well presented and tasty, a little more choice at breakfast such as fruits, yogurts etc would have been a nice option. Room wasn’t as clean as I would have expected ( splash marks on tiles around the sink)

Loud bar underneath bedroom, nothing but only liquid body & shampoo in the bathroom. No hair drier no room slippers on rundown dirty carpet in the room. Cleanness of the hotel much worse than expected. Only decent choice of breakfast was English breakfast fast : 1 dry bacon, 1 sausage, 1 small mushroom, 1 half piece of small tomato ( We didn’t order the black pudding though) & a half piece of toast : poor.

All staff were excellent, super friendly and helpful, I'd booked an attic room but seeing my husband on crutches they immediately swapped us into a first floor room which I think was an upgrade as it had a huge freestanding copper bath and Chesterfield sofa as well as a king (or maybe super king) sized bed. Despite the room not having been planned for use, everything was clean and fully stocked which was impressive. Bed extremely comfy, didn't want to leave! Breakfast being included was great, good choice of hot food options plus offered hot drinks, juices and water; everything was fresh and delicious. We'll be back as hadn't realised they stopped serving food at 5pm on a Sunday so didn't get to try the pheasant dish from their weekly specials menu I'd been looking forward to but ideally placed for other restaurants, pubs and bars (would The Hoptimist next door for craft ale and very friendly service)

It is a quirky place. Looks very plain from the front but was a lovely place to stay. Great service from arrival to departure. Food was superb. After checking out we were on our way to Sunderland when we realised we hadn't tipped the staff so, we turned back and did so. That's how good it was. Will definitely return.

Staff very welcoming and cannot do enough for you, quality food and reasonably priced.
