We were thrilled with our experience at Portofino Inn! It was perfect location for our Hollywood/Movies themed vacation - so close to everything we wanted to do. When checking in we were pleasantly surprised to learn that the attached restaurant has been a filming location for dozens of movies and commercials. It fit right into our trip like we had planned it all along. And even better they had something else shooting while we were there, so we were able to watch the behind the scenes setup all from our room. I was impressed with how seamlessly the hotel staff navigated the film shoot without inconveniencing guests at all. True professionalism and a great stay!

The hotel was simple, but clean and comfortable. Parking was easy and it was an easy drive to Universal Studios each day.

Good location

Perfect location for trip to universal. Great on site parking. Only complaint is room lighting with all lights on still felt dim

Stayed one night it worked for us

Sadly no elevator so had to drag my luggage upstairs. Front desk was very nice and they serviced the room. Overall ok stay

While it may not look like much on the exterior, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked my room. Plenty of space, clean, everything I needed for an overnight stay. And a very comfortable bed. As for the location, being familiar with Burbank, it is convenient to the freeways and anything you might want.

As with most motels, there are pros and cons. Pros: clean room (though kind of a weird, bleach smell, but it could be worse), clean bathroom, location pretty close to Universal Studios (which was the goal), and close to a shopping center (Target/Walmart) for last-minute travel needs. We stayed on a Sunday night and did not spend too much time there, but it was pretty quiet - no noise concerns. The check-in staff was very pleasant, too. There is a very small fridge and microwave sitting on the floor next to the front door - very basic. Cons: VERY barebones in terms of amenities, but that was to be expected. No coffee maker - but there is a 7-11 right across the street (no staff on site til 7, so nothing to get from the lobby). Furniture was kind of worn, not many TV options, but again, it's a motel. There is also a breakfast, but we did not stick around for that. Would I stay again? Maybe...but the lack of a coffeemaker and a few more amenities was a deal breaker for me (but that's because I am an early riser and am used to coffee at 5am). As a fun aside, for those who have kids/teens and need something to do in the late afternoon/evening, there is a great place called Family Arcade about 20 minutes away - you pay a flat fee for unlimited arcade gaming ($25 per person). Not ideal for big families, but it was just me and my teen, so it worked out well since there is not much to do around the hotel. We killed several hours in there.
