I recently stayed at Sugar Marina Resort - Fashion - Kata Beach and unfortunately it was a disappointing experience overall, especially compared to my previous stay at Sugar Marina Resort Lagoon - Villas, Naiyang Beach, which was excellent.When we arrived for check-in, there was nobody at the front desk and we waited several minutes before being assisted. After checking in, we settled into the room but immediately felt that something was off. A couple of hours later, while we were already getting ready to leave for our excursions, the front desk called to explain that there had been an issue with the room category we originally booked and that we had supposedly been “upgraded.”However, the room did not feel like an upgrade at all. There were visible signs of water damage, and parts of the ceiling appeared moldy or damaged. Overall, the condition of the room was disappointing and not what I expected based on the hotel photos or branding.During check-in, we were also told that breakfast was included. The first morning there was no issue. However, on the second morning, a restaurant manager approached me in front of other guests insisting that breakfast was not included and that I needed to pay. I explained that hotel staff had specifically informed us at check-in that it was included, but the situation was handled very unprofessionally and felt unnecessarily embarrassing. Even afterward while resolving the payment, the interaction remained uncomfortable and rude.

issues encountered were numerous and significant and the advert is material misrepresentation - The advertised “shuttle bus” is materially misleading. As stated in the Expedia listing, terms and conditions, and supported by the images provided, this was presented as a hotel-operated amenity. In reality, it is simply a local public bus service located several minutes’ walk away. This was a key factor in my decision to book this hotel over alternatives, and its absence as described represents a significant misrepresentation - No poolside facilities whatsoever (e.g. no bar, food service, or towels conveniently located; towels are only provided in-room within the bathroom) - The property is in clear need of repair and general upkeep - Rooms and furniture were visibly dirty upon arrival - Basic amenities expected at this level (such as slippers) were not provided - There was no internal door lock, raising safety concerns - Bathroom facilities were extremely basic, with inadequate space around the sink for toiletries - Poor room layout, including a bedside table positioned too far from the bed to be functional - Ongoing construction work adjacent to the hotel was not disclosed in the listing and resulted in persistent noise disturbance throughout the stay - The air conditioning in Room 3205 failed after the first night and remained unresolved for the duration of the stay - The pool was being cleane

The hotel is well situated for anyone who prefers the quieter side of Phuket. The hotel facilities are great and the lobby is beautiful. Bella and Mint are fantastic! Very helpful and supportive.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Very close to the beach and all kinds of shops and restaurants.

Check in was easy, I arrived a little late in the evening. If you are looking for a place just south of the busy party life, this is the spot to be. 2 Minute walk from the beach, and 5 minutes away from food/drinks and fire dancers at night. Although not easy for airport transportation, cabs can easily get to you for transportation around the island. The room was perfect. Really worth the value.

Good stay however room a bit grubby

Nice hotel and confortable.

The hotel room wall had wter damage and we didnt have power for the full day.

It was bad. We got cigarette smell in the room and the staff said the smoke from balcony. We insisted to changed room and the room's floor was sandy and with mosquito. The only good for this hotel is near beach.
