Hotel Shocard at Times Square

This place is a tiny crap hole. I wish I spent more time diving deeper into learning about it before making my 2 night reservation. The room contains a queen bed and about 12 inches around the bed - that's it. The hallway door opens into the bathroom door so they can't both be open at once. The sheets were clean but the rest of the room was old and worn and persistently damp. The check in and check out staff weren't particularly friendly nor informative. As a final kick in the pants, when I was checking out the cashier told me they would take $36 out of my deposit for a facility fee. I questioned that and he it's like what other properties call a resort fee. So I asked what's the facility or resort I missed, and he waved his arms around and said, all of this. I couldn't help but laugh at him and point out facility fees are for pools or a spa, not a tiny lobby. Save yourself and research the heck out of this place before making a reservation. It's not worth the minimal savings over nicer, real properties nearby. I'll never be back.

The shower is not good at all! First night only cold water!

FYI the hotel charges a separate fee that Expedia doesn’t cover or displays about it. Hotel rooms are very small tight fit. You get what you pay for.

room was clean, safe and very reasonable

Location is excellent, 1/2 block to Times Square, easy walk to MSG and Broadway shows. Staff very friendly. Rooms and bathroom are small. Bathroom did not have hand soap at the sink or a hair dryer. Room was cool and dark, great for sleeping.

We were able to checking in quite easiely but this is the only positive experience we had. We were situated at the front of the hotel and there was building works which started at 10pm with this then was ongoing till the following morning. When we requested a room change after having listened to engines of a crane and continuing reversing beeps from a lorries and workman shouting to one another for hours we were met with the offer a set of ear plugs only. It was apparent that this was ongoing works and should of been highlighted when we booked this hotel or even when we checked in this wasn’t pointed out to us.

This hotel is what I call adequate. It is a great location. Room is clean and everything is in good repair. The room is very small and sometimes the hot water got quirky so I rinsed my hair with cold water. Some say that is healthy. The staff was very helpful as well and arranged a transfer to the airport at a good price in a nice suburban. For the price, it's okay but know what you are getting.

Excellent little hotel in the heart of the theater District of Manhattan. 41st and seventh Avenue it’s a very easy walk to most of the theaters in the area. I had no problems walking to Wintergarden Gershwin and studio 54 on the hotel. Rooms are tiny probably about 90 ft.² but very accommodating. The bed and the linens are excellent climate control works perfectly. The bathrooms are beautiful with rainmaker showerhead and very good amenities such a shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Front desk is helpful and accommodating. The Irish bar attached to it has one of the best Irish breakfasts I’ve had in the states. Their blood pudding was amazing. Guinness is also a proper pint of Guinness, correct temperature correct consistency, correct foam head and real Irish bartenders. I had their pork sliders after a night out on my way upstairs and they were very good as well. You get a 10 or 15% discount at the bar for food as a guest of the hotel. I’m scheduled to be back in New York in a couple weeks and I will be booking here again and looking forward to my stay.

Disappointed that checking in we booked through Expedia but checking in was charged an extra $32 for some type of unknown fee?

The lobby was awful, filled with trash bags. The room was tiny even by NYC standards. No room for a desk or chair. But it was very clean! The wall mounted thermostat did not work, but lifting a latch by the unit allowed for manual control. At 98 deg F, outside one of the advantages of a tiny room with a standard a/c is that the room was wonderfully chilled. You could not ask for a more central location. And they procided coupons for a free beverage per night.
