Highland Bear Lodge & Woodland Bear Huts

We stayed in one of the Bear Huts. Although I'd seen the photo, I did not think it was going to be as cramped inside as it was. It's certainly not big enough for two people. The large and very comfy bed was fitted over storage space and was so high up my husband had to help me up onto it in a very ungainly manner. Definitely needs a step up of some sort. All the storage units had noisy bolt lock fastenings. Getting the boiler working for hot water in the shower was a work of art. The hut door was very squeaky and in need of some WD 40. Breakfast was cereals. There was a hob, but they asked you not to cook anything that may leave a smell. There was a small table and two foldup chairs to sit on, but it was difficult to move around with them in situ. There was a lovely private outside area with seating and table. Parking was available The property was situated a fair way out of Drumnadroch and not worth the extra journey. It was not suitable for an overnight stop and overpriced considering there was no proper breakfast.

Wonderful hotel! Five stars not enough. The hosts were gracious and helpful(via phone and text), as this is a self serve stay. Immaculate, easy check in with generous breakfast in room. Location is remote , but beautiful. Must have car to get around. We had a car issue and a very late check in was no problem. Staff on site was also very informative about derives in the area. Great stay.

Beautiful lodge house with fantastic countryside views. Stayed in the Bonnie Prince Charlie suite which was amazing. The window overlooking the side of the lodge affords a great view of a variety of wild birds including Woodpeckers as they feed on the bird feeding station. To great surprise a rare red squirrel also visited! Nice large continental breakfast that couldn't be finished. Nice change from the standard cooked breakfast often served by B and Bs. Large communal lounge sitting room with large traditional stone fireplace and TV. The owner Mark is a friendly guy who ensures everything is all good during your stay. The location is a little of the main roads but still within easy car access to the two restaurants available in loch Ness area. Outside table dining area couldn't be used due to rain spoiling play. Great area if weather is fine. Free onsite car parking. Not sure what more can be said. The photos on the booking site do not do the lodge justice. If back in the area I will try and return.

Lovely property. Rooms had everything you needed and more - the in room continental breakfast was extensive. Fantastic areas where you can relax. Consider a 2 night stay to make the most of the surrounding area - we wish we had.

Great location, stayed in the hut, which is a very nicely appointed small space. However the hut may not be ideal for tall or big people. Though the room did not include breakfast, they had provided breakfast bars, cereal, pastry, etc, which was very nice. Getting the hot water going was a bit tricky initially until we got the hang of it. The hut guests are not allowed access to the main lodge and this does not seem fair especially in inclement weather, since the outdoor benches cannot be used and there is almost no space to move around the room once the chairs and table are set up

The little cabins are tiny, thoughtfully appointed, comfortable, and had nice little touches that made our stay really enjoyable.
