lovely staff but such a run down, tired hotel in an unpleasant location.

Short walk from Watford Junction to allow access to London. Very hot night with no air conditioning, but a fan and open windows solved that issue!

The bathroom was very tired and the bath dirty. Needs a total updating . Basic but I guess you get what you pay for .

Stayed for two nights. Nice big room, modern, clean. Plenty of space. Usual chain hotel facilities and had a fan, which was necessary in the heat. Good location, just a few minutes walk from Watford High Street, which has loads of shops cafes etc. About a 12 min walk to the nearest Tube. Dated bathroom - when they refurbished the hotel this wasn't done, so you have a juxtaposition between the modern bedroom and the 90s feel of the bathroom. The water pressure for the shower was insane so if that's your thing, you'll enjoy that! The thing that let the stay down was the mattress was soft. I asked at reception if all the beds were like this, he didn't know and showed me a different room. Unfortunately, the mattress was the same so I didn't change rooms. I'm an average build and I could easily move the bed and mattress with one hand. When sitting on the bed propped up at the top to watch TV, I was sliding the mattress down just being sat, it was so light. A medium mattress would be a big improvement. Be aware you have to pay a £50 refundable deposit on a debit/credit card (no cash) on check in. Doors throughout the hotel close, noisily so bear this in mind if you are a light sleeper or it would disturb you. Overall the stay was good, but let down by the quality of the mattress. The other two biggest chain hotels have more comfortable beds, the price for this one was reasonable in comparison, nicer rooms but not as good a night's sleep. Unless you like a soft mattress.

Like going back to the 80s. My bathroom smelt the inside of a smokers mouth.

The hotel staff were helpful and welcoming, the rooms were okay however could have been better maintained, the bathrooms were outdated and therefore didn’t appear clean. There was a smell in the bar area, with another in the lift. We had breakfast one morning which the staff were accommodating. With some updates this could be a great place to stay, good location to Watford restaurants and shopping. £50 deposit per room as fee held which I wasn’t aware of before stay so helpful to know.

The room we were given was for disabled people. The bathroom was a wet room, with the smallest sink that I have ever come across. The shower was open with a shower curtain that was about two feet off the floor. The shower floor was without any rim to stop the water going all over the bathroom floor. There were no drain holes in the floor to take the water away. Consequently, after using the shower once, the bathroom was unusable, unless you were willing to paddle through the flood. Breakfast was distinctly average with most residents giving up on the scrambled eggs as a bad job. The bedroom was ok, if a little dated. Car parking was limited in their two small car parks. Checking in was reasonably straight forward and quick but I do not see the need to take a £50 charge off my debit card for possible services. It has still not been removed from my bank account, more than 6 days after I checked out.
