The place is great but i could not use the bath due to my tattoos. Also the room we stayed in was a smoking room when we paid for non-smoking. There is not a lot to do around the hotel unless you get a bus to another town. Breakfast was a very traditional Japanese breakfast.

お部屋は広々使わせていただきました！
しかしお部屋の消臭スプレー？消毒薬？芳香剤臭が強く、私には苦手な匂いで滞在中不快で残念でした。
お目当ての大浴場とサウナは、時間帯が良かったのか貸切状態で、とてものんびりと4セット入ることができしました！

Clean room, friendly staff, great location if you want to walk around lake or want to try the public foot bath. They have a public onsen in the hotel. If you are interested in the local public onsen, it's also walking distance.

The room is spacious and offers a beautiful view of the lake. The customer service is attentive and thoughtful. As for the meals, there is an impressive variety of dishes, most of which are delicious—especially the botan shrimp, yellowtail, and the steamed egg custard with nodoguro. In addition, the breakfast exceeded my expectations and was the best I’ve had across my past ten ryokan stays. You can tell the differences through their careful selections of food ingredients. Excellent

Wonderful staff trying to do their best in the middle of a remodel in a dated property - few restaurant options near the hotel -
Unfortunately, we had no view to the lake because of the remodel; however, we were never informed about this neither by the hotel not by hotels.com when we made the reservation.
