La Perla Beach Resort, Zanzibar - Your Beachfront Private Haven

I was a little concerned as we drove up to La Perla as the road was in awful condition and the surroundings no better but my worry was short lived as soon as I was greeted at the gate! Karyba ( sorry for spelling ) the manager was an excellent host, very friendly and helpful, we spoke and had a laugh several times throughout my stay. Great guy! The room was immaculate and had a huge comfortable bed. Slippers, dressing gowns, shower gel/ shampoo toothbrush etc were all provided. The smallish pool and the surrounding garden area were exceptionally well kept and there are plenty of sun beds both around the pool and on the beach. The breakfast was amazing and came in 2 courses, firstly an assortment of fresh fruit and juice followed by a cooked breakfast with tea/coffee. I ate in the restaurant most nights and there’s a mix of local dishes, seafood and this like pizza and pasta for the less adventurous. The waiters ‘King’ Arthur and Tukae were probably two of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Nothing was too much trouble and they always took time to speak to you and make you feel extremely welcome. To be fair, everyone in the whole resort including security staff and gardeners went out of their way to speak and ask about your well being. This resort isn’t hi tech with super 5 star luxury, neither is it busy or surrounded by loud bars but it is clean, quiet authentic Africa with unbelievably friendly staff. I can’t wait to return. Habitación limpia, espaciosa y a un paso del mar. El personal muy amable y atento en todo momento. Hicimos una excursión con ellos y todo salió genial. Repetiremos en un futuro.

It was great especially the food.The burger ,chicken lollipops and the fried calamari. The only problem is the bathroom omg the room we got had a very terrible bathroom and whenever someone would flash the sewerage smell would fill up the place.

We hebben een geweldige ervaring gehad! Manager Jamil heeft er werkelijk alles aan gedaan om met ons mee te denken en het ons naar de zin te maken. Hij heeft ons geholpen bij het organiseren van een safari-activiteit en zelfs gezorgd voor een verjaardagstaart voor de verjaardag van mijn vrouw. Zijn vriendelijkheid en persoonlijke aandacht maakten ons verblijf extra speciaal. Zeker een aanrader!

It was Quiet and more private. Food was good. Had the pool to ourselves and beach was never crowded.
