Great location

The Abstract has quickly become my go to when I am in Auckland for work. Great location, fantastic staff (specially Myra) and though the rooms are small, they are well thought out. Highly recommend.

I stay here on a regular basis as it is modern, stylish comfortable and convenient. And the staff are exceptional.

Was rudely addressed and escorted out of the premises by the Officers

Everything was fine except for simple water access. No water bottle(s) in the fridge but, this isn't a major issue. Lovely stay overall.

I like the aesthetic of dark room and mysterious vibes

I frankly couldn’t wait to check out early. I’ve stayed many times here probably close to twenty times. It’s been excellent. NOT this time. The checkin staff are so ways good even though pressed at busy times. They smiled recognised me as frequent visitor and checked me in effortlessly. Then it turned bad. I had been given free drinks voucher so decided to have dinner there too. Wait staff were not great. Food was excellent but catching the only two wait staff for another wine was hard work. And there were only four tables busy. But ok I didn’t feel resented just not great staff who obviously would rather be at home. Then I went out for a walk. It was a little after 9pm I can back to the hotel for a final drink before bed. I’m locked out. At 9pm? One staffer on reception was busy on a call - repeatedly I waved to be let in. All she does is signal to swipe. Three times. This felt like living in a detention centre - what at 9pm?? I’m just getting pointed at.? So I go to the bar for a wine. No one is there but the two same staff from the restaurant. I ordered a wine- clearly they didn’t want me to. I get my wine and the woman in charge tells me I can’t drink it there?! I raised my arms in disbelief and said “so where - you lock me out then you tell me to go drink somewhere on my own” she just shrugged and told me to go to the library. Zero charm or apology It was totally empty and depressing. Abstract Hotel needs more engaged staff than this frankly. I checked out at 7am.
