This is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. The location is a reasonable distance from the busy city of Porto over the river, while still being very accessible on the Gaia side, near the port wine cellars. We booked a studio room overlooking the Douro River with a stunning balcony view of the Luís I Bridge that we had to see to believe. Some days we took a short walk along the river to the lower cable car station to take in amazing views on the ride to the top. The upper station is next the top level of the bridge, so we enjoyed the beautiful high walk across into the south of the city. We sometimes ordered a ride because everything is drivable within a few minutes and this skips the demanding hill climbs. The hotel atmosphere is upscale without being pretentious. Immaculately clean, with an industrial modern styling and tasteful furniture throughout. We found our room to have some natural sounds of the river, while still being quiet at night. There is a minor road outside but the double balcony doors keep any noise out. The amenities are impeccable. We used the spa, the gym, and ate at the restaurant which is fantastic for dinner. Breakfast is very good. Snacks and drinks in the room are reasonably priced if you want more than the generous complimentary items. All the staff are so attentive at every point - wine suggestions with dinner, knowledgeable therapists in the spa, friendly housekeepers. We loved coming back to our room to thoughtful daily gifts and snacks.

Great location

What a treat to arrive at this hotel, to be absolutely blown away by the building, its location, then the staff, the room, the food, the rooftop bar, the spa… it went on and on. One of the best hotel stays we’ve had and will definitely check in here again on our next visit. Not a single complaint and bucket load of praise.

Hands down one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in. We had a 2 bedroom river suite with over 1,000 sqft and the most amazing views of old town Porto. The spa and gym area looked amazing although we did not have enough time to really use them. The hotel is in Gaia which has the best views of Porto but is a bit of a walk or Taxi ride to get to the other side of the River. We love walking so this was no issue for us. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an upscale stay a bit off the super touristy areas.

Enjoyed the stay. Hotel has great views. We are walkers so the mile or so to the historical sites was not a problem. Actually flat until you get into the old town. Breakfast was excellent! Stay did not start well because we organized airport transport from the airport and he never showed up. No apology when we checked in. After that though staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay again but organize transport myself next time.

By far one of the most enjoyable hotels we have been too. It is situated in an amazing location across the river with and amazing view and far from the bustle. The suite is one of the largest accommodation spaces I have ever had in Europe, it feels like a small apartment. The amenities are rich and the architecture, decoration, and design are exquisite. Breakfast is also rich. They have a nice SPA where you can enjoy a nice indoor swim then break it off with a quick Sauna. There is also a parking on site. The only thing that could’ve been managed better was the rooftop restaurant as the food and service didn’t give justice to how amazing this place is BUT we will definitely always stay there whenever we are in Porto. Try Enoteca restaurant close-by if you are ever in town.

Close to activities . Large rooms

The carpets leading up to the rooms looked old and slightly dirty. The housekeeping forgot to replenish the bottles of water one day as well as bathroom vanities like a shower cap. The reception staff goes out of their way to help out
