Bravo to the APA Ryugoku location. Everything and everyone operate in excellence. The gym needs a new treadmill, but outside of that, I totally recommend. I love Tokyo and APA contributed tremendously towards the love that I have. Clean restrooms and the bidet changed my life! Why have I been wiping?? That is so primitive, lol! Oh yeah, the location is close to everything! If not, JR trains close by will get you anywhere in 20-40 minutes..with everything in walking distance!

You cannot see the fireworks from the rooftop pool but the picture on the website had fireworks which was misleading. On sumida river festival day it was so crowded I was stuck waiting long time for the elevator. Since you can't see the fireworks, the price I paid for that day was not worth it. It was very hectic and I was in a bad mood. Sorry.

The location was very ideal. We were close to train stations (5-8 minutes walk) , close to restaurants, and local museums as well. This is my second stay at APA and have been happy with the accommodations so far. I don’t think this is ideal if you want a luxurious hotel stay, this is more like a place to put your head down and then head out to explore. Rooms were tiny but we didn’t spend much time inside to feel claustrophobic.

Honest review: The elevator delay during peak hours is this hotel's biggest drawback. You need to plan for 15 minutes of waiting for an elevator if you are going down or up during peak hours. There are 6 elevators for ~31 floors, which to be honest may not be enough or something else may be causing the process to be slow. I'm not sure what is going on, but the hotel is aware of it and there are signs everywhere warning visitors to prepare for long elevator waits during certain times of the day. Other than the elevators, this is a great hotel for a sleep and shower at the end of the day, between your tourist activities around Tokyo. The room we stayed in was small and no place you'd really want to hang out and work. The on-premises convenience store is a big plus. The pool requires a fee to use and is quite small. I didn't use the sento but it seemed to be extremely popular. The laundry room is mostly useless unless you use it during the middle of the day or night (we used it at 2:30am) because - as is laundromat tradition worldwide - people leave their clothes in the machines (especially the driers) and others are left with wet clothes they can't dry, and the whole system grinds to a halt. Overall, we had a great stay here and I really can't say enough good things about the friendliness of the staff. My review may sound negative but the experience was mostly positive.
