A little isolated from the busy busy old port of marseille, but perfectly located for people that like a little exercise. Staff were great.

The room for 4 people was small dark and stinky. The room has this old smoky closet smell that seeped into your clothes. The lack of AC made it even worst. We had to use a portable fan from the front desk to cool the room down. The mosquitos prevented us from opening the window at night time to get more ventilation.

There was no AC in the building and they did nothing to fix it. The shower water went all over the floor bc there was no curtain or walls/door. The location was great and having a breakfast buffet was nice but unable to sleep in the record temps in France at the time made it not worth the spend to stay there.

On this visit I was placed in a room with French doors that opened onto a balcony with cocktail table and a scenic view. Just as before the room, staff, a/c, and WiFi were all ideal. Hotel Univers is a hidden gem just outside of Old Town.
