In this guide, you can find out how to pick up your train tickets from your departure station. Keep in mind, you must pick up your tickets at the designated machine before your train’s departure time.
We recommend avoiding last-minute pickup just in case you need to seek help from the station staff. Please also turn off dark mode on your devices for the ease of scanning.

Step-by-step guide for picking up tickets by QR code
Step 1 - Look for machines that support QR code pick-up. There are 2 types of machines that you can use: the SmartEx machines and the JR Tokai reserved ticket machines.
SmartEx machines - refer to the relevant section below

Step 2 - Since pickup steps are only supported in the Japanese interface, please do not change the language of the system. Tap "Pick up reserved tickets" at the bottom of the touch screen.
Step 3 - Click the green "えきねっと予約の受取" button.
Step 4 - Click "QRコード または 受取コード" and scan the QR code. If you can't scan the code, you can tap black "受取コード入力" button to manually enter the 17-digit pick-up code.”.
Step 5 - Scan your QR code at the designated area on the machine.
Step 6 - Once you’ve checked and confirmed your tickets, tap “Issue tickets for this reservation”.
Step 7 - Pick up your tickets from the machine and you’re all set to go!
Make sure to pick up each physical ticket for each person booked. Kindly note that you will need both the standard fare ticket (乘車券) and express train ticket (特急券) to board the train. Most of the time they come in 2 individual paper tickets.
JR Tokai reserved ticket machines (refer to the relevant section below)
Look out for machines with the green logo on the left - it is usually displayed on the machine like in the picture on the right.
Please be aware that only JR Central (JR Tokkai) reserved ticket machines can issue tickets with QR code pick up; tickets cannot be picked up from other ticket vending machine like these:

Step 2 - Switch the interface to your preferred language (English, Chinese or Korean) from the top right-hand corner of the machine.
Step 3 -Tap “Read QR code”.
Step 4 - Scan your QR code at the designated area on the machine.
Step 5 - Once you’ve checked and confirmed your tickets, tap “Issue tickets for this reservation”.
Step 6 - Pick up your tickets from the machine and you’re all set to go!
