I stayed at 1898 Hotel Colonia for 4 nights and overall had a positive experience. As others have mentioned, the hotel is in a large building at one of the city's busiest corners, so it can feel quite crowded at times. The building itself is a bit dated, and the three elevators are often busy and not air-conditioned, so it is not a five-star luxury experience. That said, the management and staff were excellent, very helpful, and welcoming throughout my stay. The room was clean and well-maintained, and housekeeping did a great job. Considering the price, I felt the overall value was very good.

We had a wonderful stay at 1898 Hotel and would gladly recommend it to anyone visiting Manila. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with a good variety of dishes that changed daily and tasted great. The pool was clean and inviting, and our kids had a lot of fun. The only downside was that the pool chemicals seemed quite strong, as both of my children experienced dry skin and hair after swimming. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the 24/7 housekeeping service was a huge plus. What truly makes this hotel stand out is its exceptional staff. Every single person we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The security guards and front entrance team were always attentive, welcoming, and eager to help. The front desk staff were friendly, professional, and very informative, making check-in and every interaction smooth and pleasant. The restaurant team deserves special recognition as well. One morning we accidentally missed the buffet breakfast hours, and instead of simply turning us away, they kindly prepared complimentary plated breakfasts for our family. That thoughtful gesture made a lasting impression and perfectly reflects the hotel’s outstanding hospitality. Overall, 1898 Hotel offers comfortable stay, excellent food, reliable amenities, and most importantly, a team that genuinely cares about its guests. The staff are the true gem of this place, and they are the biggest reason we look forward to staying here again.

Excellent helpful staff and property, walkable, restaurent options, transportation and entertainment.

Scrambled egg and bacon at breakfast was cold.

The room was very clean, the AC worked, good water pressure in the shower, the bath towels were big and thick and clean, the bed was comfy and the linens were fresh. The hotel has its own restaurant, and there were plenty of cafes, pubs and other restaurants within walking distance. Small complaint: The people next door tended to slam their door real hard. Jarring when they did it. And the coffee at the little pastry shop is a tad over-priced. Overall: I would stay here again. And I would recommend it to my friends.

What can I say bad fairly brand new hotel everything was excellent condition and hotel staff was very friendly! I will come back over and over and recommend Hotel 1898 to everyone.
