I feel this place has had some unfair and harsh reviews in the past. I can of course only base my review on our experience with the room we booked, a triple room with AC. Yes it is a bit of a walk from the long beach jetty and there is a bit of a broken up path with a small incline to the reception but from coral beach the hill is steep. We were greeted at reception by a friendly host and a bottle of water. We found our room to be clean and as the pictures stated, we had a fan and air conditioning and the room was quickly cooled after a hot walk. Our room was unfortunately at the top of another hill but can't be helped given the landscape of the property. The bathroom was acceptable the shower could have been slightly better as it didn't have much pressure but was enough to wash. There was no wifi in the room and the mobile reception is minor and patchy at best but this IS a remote island paradise. If you need entertainment in your room you'd be best to download a series or two but generally browsing internet and social media just about worked on mobile data. The property is a short and fairly easy walk from long beach and its restaurants, shops & bars about 5 mins. It's also a 5-10 minute walk from coral beach which is great for watching sunset but the steep hill is short but sweaty. I think the price of this room is more on the expensive side for basic accommodation but the AC is worth the upgrade as the jungle island is hot & humid. All in all we were happy with the stay

This a good basic hotel. It offers clean comfortable rooms. The reception guy is awesome and helpful. There is no pool or food service on the premises. There are some items for sale in the lobby which are snacks and toiletries and most importantly mosquito spray! The hotel is at an easy distance (disregarding the condition of the pathway) from Long Beach and Coral Beach which there are many restaurants and activities available. The grounds are well maintained as well as the rooms. Cons: Mosquitoes and limited to little to no hot water. Out of 5 days, I had hot water for 3.5 days. The receptionist booked transportation (tractor with trailer) for a pickup and transfer to the pier. This is a big plus if you have a lot of luggage.

Basic amenities. Rooms with too little space. Decent, could be cheaper.

Wifi signal very weak at rooms

Let’s start with the good. This place is conveniently located equidistant to the two main beaches. Around a five minute walk to each. The staff were kind and warm in their behaviour. Now the not so good. This is not a 2.5 star hotel. It’s not even a hotel. It’s back country lodging. For starters, they do not provide toilet paper. You can extrapolate from there. I am not assigning blame to the ownership of the hotel for the 2.5 star rating. I am assigning blame to whomever is responsible for the unstandardized rating system, as well as customers who play into this misinformation, with or without good intentions. The other piece is the walking path. It is extremely perilous at night. Someone is going to get badly hurt, if they haven’t already. At one point, the path turns from relatively flat terrain to stairs. You can’t see the drop off in the dark. A flashlight can solve this problem, but I would not walk it alone if I was a female. Otherwise, I am open to the possibility that this is good value from a supply/demand perspective. I just think it’s only fair that people know what they’re getting into, before they commit. Great location near long beach. Wifi access very useful. Reception staff member was fantastic at helping us determine ferry times/confirming pickup jetty at the end of our stay. Would go back if I stay on Perhentian Kecil in the future.

A nice place to stay but hard to get there... It is not an easy path to get from ferry to there.

The wifi service was limited only at the receptionist and only can be used until 10 pm.

We had an unforgettable stay at Tropicana Inn. The Long Beach where this place is located is fantastic. In our opinion, the is the best beach in this part of the world. This resort has a very relaxed and laid back atmosphere which is exactly what one needs in such a location. The room was clean and comfortable with a clean ensuite bathroom. If you are looking for a decent place at a reasonable price, Tropicana Inn is without doubt the resort to choose.
