Check in wasn’t the best. The hotel says check in from 1pm - maybe on a good day. I was waiting for almost an hour to check in and was finally allocated a room at 1.35pm. This was compounded by two other sets of people who arrived at the hotel after me but got their rooms before me. There was no decaf coffee or tea in the room which wasn’t great and the tv doesn’t have standard channels, only apps.
On the positive side, the staff were lovely, the hotel was clean and room functional.

Staff was responsive especially the lady running the breakfast in the morning.
Rooms need some deferred maintenance addressed but the room rate reflects that.
The location is really good.
Overall I'd book this joint again if I had to hit a budget in the Portman Square area.

This is a clean, comfortable boutique hotel perfectly placed in London. It is near Marble Arch, and you can get everywhere with public transportation. It is well worth including breakfast when you book. The breakfast bar had a great selection of foods, and the price was excellent; breakfast anywhere else in London would cost you way more. There is a pleasant sitting lounge on the ground floor. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby, and if you are there for a while and need to do laundry, there are two laundromats close by.

We had a great stay at The Sumner. The breakfasts were good and convenient and the staff was very helpful, calling cabs when we needed them, carrying luggage, getting reservations for us for meals, etc. It's also in a convenient location in London.

We always choose to stay at the Sumner Hotel whenever we visit London because of its excellent location, which provides easy access to all the attractions and amenities of central London. The surrounding neighbourhood is vibrant and lively, with a fantastic selection of bars, cafés, and restaurants right on the doorstep.
The staff are always friendly, professional, and helpful.
The only area that could be improved is the accommodation itself. While the rooms are comfortable, they feel somewhat dated and would benefit from refurbishment and modernisation. Despite this, the hotel’s outstanding location and excellent service ensure that it remains our preferred choice whenever we stay in London.

Tile in Bathroom broken with sharp edges,dangerous could cut feet. Extremely small shower not easy for an82 year old. The first night was extremely cold and night desk manager did not tell us how to use the covered old water radiator when we called down to ask for portable heater. We were only told the next morning.
