I spent five days at the lodge. The staff is excellent. Most have been working at the lodge for 20+ years. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and bathroom was small but functional. I appreciated being able to open the windows at night for fresh air.
The pub is first rate. I strongly suggest having breakfast there. They have a selection of yogurts and cereal but the star of the show are the freshly made hot meals. I had eggs with toast and bacon each morning. Each plate is individually made, no warming bins with hours old food like the big chains.
On Sunday evening, I had a friend join me for Sunday roast with turkey, beef, and ham. The gravy and all the trimmings were excellent. My friend lamented that he was staying at the courtyard.
All in all a first rate stay.
