Upsides were; Good location for the seafront and attractions. Useful car park. Room was reasonable size and very quiet. Downsides: Airconditioning has not been working for a month or so. Assume you will have use of a fan. The reception staff appeared disinterested ( With the exception of one who checked us in on the Friday) and need customer training. No point in opting for any of the upgrades that Hotel.com offer, because the hotel are not aware and certainly not acting on them. I spend the best part of 45 minutes trying to find out from Holiday Inn's global telephone number, wether we had got an early check in ( for which I was happy to pay) . The call centre failed to get through to the hotel and the reception were not aware. Crazy.

Staff were very friendly and we’re dealing with some difficulties when we arrived to check in. The air conditioning throughout the whole hotel wasn’t working, on a very hot day, and the swimming pool was also out of action. Some very disappointed families with children were understandably disappointed with this, as there was no prior notice. Our room was apparently a “premier” room, it was very dark. The curtains were coming off the rail and our window overlooked a large fenced off container unit which took away a lot of the limited light, in an already dark room. Not ideal!

Not a lot of parking and an extra £5. Air conditioning wasn’t working in the road and the swimming pool was closed.

A short overnight stay. Welcome was as expected. Car park was full so we had to pay to park on the road which was annoying. Room was clean and well equipped. Shower did not drain properly so you had to wash quickly! Some aspects of the repairs/maintenance were tired and not what you would expect from a 4* stay - but perhaps standards are lower these days?!

Bar did not have that good a selection They had run out of rhubarb gin

Unfriendly staff, all staff could be trained in better customer service and friendliness. My biggest complaint is the aircon was not working at the hotel, during a really hot spell of weather. By all accounts it had not been working for several days before our arrival. A small notice in reception but staff did not apologise, or even offer a discount or maybe a free drink in the bar. A fan was provided in the room, which helped, but at end of the day customers are being sold a hotel room with air con. In the bar when asked for a particular cocktail one evening, we were told they didn’t have them?? This puzzled us until I queried it with another member of staff and was told they are pre mixed tins and had run out…. The bar advertised Cocktails, but they are not mixed by a barman, only poured out of a Tin! Not good enough for a popular hotel chain. Very disappointed with our stay. Breakfast overall was good however on the last morning one drinks machine appeared to be broken, and restaurant staff were very invisible - unaware of guests waiting to be seated, or dietary requests being forgotten or taking time to get to table. Staff should not disappear from the restaurant floor all at the same time ( at least 3 on duty) I could have been a “secret shopper” and my feedback would not have been positive unfortunately.

Room had moths on the wall which had been killed but not cleaned, overall breakfast was okay eggs looked as if they had been sitting there a long time and going hard. Other stuff was good and hot.

Good stay. Although rooms were warm as air con didn’t seem to be working as well on this visit. Breakfast was good. Gym and pool a bonus.

Dishes were left outside rooms all day . We had one big towel and one little Towel for two people . Air conditioning went down and was given a very noisy fan. No fridge in room . A small room which we were told was a standard size For the price 229 for two nights I was not impressed . The floor in the bar was very sticky . Would not stay again
