The check-in process took almost one hour. I arrived at the hotel at 6:20 pm, went to the check-in desk, and finally saw someone around 8 pm. Finally went to the room to get my suitcase on the floor at 8:30 pm.
Looking at the mob line-up (with many receptionists), I asked a hotel employee if this is usual or just this particular time slot, something I should avoid getting away for 30 min or one hour to come back to. Two different employees told me that the World Cup and some group check-ins are taking time. They were neutral, not recommending I go away, and not telling me that it would be a long line, more or less the same as later at a major airport's security line.
The receptionist told me that it is the largest hotel in Northern Texas with over close to 1,900 rooms, and the situation is always like this. I did not expect this. I was lucky I did not have a business appointment lined up in the evening. I would have liked to know in advance.
