The room was not clean, we could see some dirt in the walls

Was good. Traditional Japanese room. Beds are mats on the floor. Nothing special but fine for us.

Pros: -This place was well located (walkable to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, Golden Gai, Omoide Yokocho, close to JR Yamanote line) -Affordable -Able to hold bags for a small fee before and after checkout Cons: -not very well maintained rooms, broken vent in the shower, stains / holes on walls, etc. -can hear other guests often -a pipe burst above our room and woke us up raining into my suitcase from the overhead light. I understand that these things can happen, but the front desk man was rude and refused to compensate us at all. One of the nicer workers helped me launder my clothes that were rained on and gave us a room upgrade, but we think they could have handled this better. Summary: This is a cheap and well located hotel, but don't expect consistent kindness from staff or a nice room. Because of the whole leaking situation I don't think I would stay here again, but it wasn't terrible.

The room was clean. The staff was nice a very convenient. It’s very old hotel. And that really depends on your style if you wanna see this one if you’re looking for a convenient place this is pretty convenient.

Room is very tight for 3. We were walking over our beds. Also it was extremely stuffy in the mornings when we woke up. Aside from that pretty much what you’d expect so can’t complain too much. Did give us new towels everyday which was very nice. Oddly enough they did not give us hand soap.

I was so happy with my stay at Hotel Tateshina! The staff is very welcoming and helpful, the rooms are yes small, but very clean and perfect for a place to sleep. Its in a great location and I would definitely return and stay here again!

Great location.ñ 10 mins walk to the heart of Shinjuku

This was a last minute reservation for me and it was suitable for my needs. I was in a western style room with 2 full sized beds and both were comfortable. The bedding was awesome. But I have to say this. If you're expecting the Hilton, Kempton or any other resort do yourself and the staff a favor and book there. The decor feels like its from the 1980's and I can imagine some people not being able to wrap their heads around using 2 separate elevators and a passage way between 2 buildings to get to your room. But, if you're looking fir or in need of a place to stay this place will fit the bill. I went out drinking and didn't want to catch the train back to my place

Small and affordable

Hotel was okay. Seemed clean enough. Bed and pillows uncomfortable and the street noise from our room was on going. Location was ok, a 10 minute walk to Shinjuku station.
