The room itself was fine, not anything exceptional for a 5* hotel but perfectly fine. But we had one major issue that affected our entire stay.
When I booked the room, I requested an extra bed for our 4 year old. The Sofitel confirmed this. When we checked in, we re-confirmed the extra bed and we were assured that even though the bed was not there at check-in (honestly not sure why it wasn’t) that it would be put in the room at some point during the afternoon. But when we returned back to the hotel at 7:30, the bed was not there. Our son’s bedtime is 8, and while we conveyed the urgency to the staff we ultimately waited for over an hour for the bed to be brought to our room despite being told it would be up “immediately”.
The staff seemed both completely confused and annoyed by our request which made the entire ordeal even more frustrating, all well trying to tame a very overtired 4 year old. There was no real apology or gesture from the hotel which was incredibly disappointing. We were made to feel like we were a nuisance as opposed to welcomed guests.
The only bright spot were the breakfast staff who were delightful.
