그저 그래요 If you want to stay at a historic hotel with historic bedding, that's your hotel. Our bed was broke! My wife and I couldn't sleep because the bed was broken right in the middle so we sunk to the middle.
We asked for ice and it never came.
I've worked in hotels for 10 years. One of my properties was historic. We were able to keep the historic architecture, with very comfortable beds. You need that to enjoy the history behind it. Bad stay, we won't be back. I'm sure I'll here, "you should have stayed in our deluxe room." I say, paying 350.00 for location was not worth the value if you can't sleep.

만족해요 The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful at check in & check out and we found parking along the street but those were the only positives for our stay. This hotel was beautiful in its day. The pictures online were misleading. Sadly this hotel has not been taken care of over the years. The lobby and hallway carpet have large stains all over it. The room was dirty, the bathroom was very worn with cracks in the countertop, cabinet doors that didn't stay shut, and a strong mildew smell from the shower. We had a second floor room that overlooked the street. What should have been a positive was not because the noise from the street was as if your windows were wide open. It made it difficult to sleep and remain sleeping. If this was a low price hotel I would accept the condition but paying $350/night it definitely did not meet our expectations.

만족해요 The hotel was a bit disappointing. The property was not very clean. We arrived and went to the 3rth floor, per the handmade sign (3rth). The room fan was covered in dust, the tub had some black mold on the tiles. It was ok, we did try to search for a different hotel when we got there but decided to stick with what we paid for due to the short length of the trip.

매우 훌륭해요 We had a great stay at the Monterey Hotel. No problems parking. No problems finding places to enjoy a meal. And walking to Fisherman's Warf was easy and short. Loved our stay at your hotel. Will recommend to others

만족해요 Enjoyed our stay at Monterey the staff were very friendly and helpful, however the property could do with some updating it is a little worn and the room was so hot! They supplied a fan but it was noisy all night and we woke up with a headache each morning.
Shame as the hotel
Is is a great position, easy valet parking and very attentive staff.

The location and the staff were excellent. The fact there was no parking assigned to the hotel was a surprise as we probably didn't read the hotel notes carefully enough. If one wants to avoid the $39 a night valet fee, there several nearby parking garages one can use. There is no A/C or phone, but great Wifi. The Trolley stop is right outside. The Trolley is free and runs every 15 min. Overall, we are very happy with our stay.

Do NOT book the Monterey Hotel!
Albeit, the Monterey Hotel is somewhat historic, the amenities and feel need serious attention. The staff was helpful, but it appears that the ownership is negligent in keeping the hotel is a condition that most travelers or tourist expect.
The room we were g did not have simple amenities such as a rack to hang clothing, the luggage stand was broken, the mattress was collapsing and the carpet was filthy. The toilet seat was excessively worn, some goo was coming from the bathtub faucet, and the place didn't seem clean at all. Walking past other rooms, they appeared to be in similar condition.
If you look at the photos of the website, the room that we were given did not appear to be the same in amenities, and condition. Not sure why this was...
Since we were in town for only one evening, we toughed it out... NEVER AGAIN!
I recommend that Expedia either drop the Monterey Hotel, or perhaps the hotel can be a bit more forthcoming on the actual condition of the hotel (based on our experience).
