Dormy Inn is my favorite hotel chain in Japan, and I’ve stayed in several of their properties including this one in Asakusa. But to be honest, if this had been my first time staying at a Dormy Inn, I would have gotten a negative impression of the chain. 1. When we were checking out, the staff asked to see my passport. That was racist and rude as despite not looking Japanese, I’ve lived in Japan for over a decade. I told her (in Japanese) that I’m a resident of Japan. She then asked for my Residence Card, which is discriminatory and potentially a breech of my privacy as Japanese law only requires residents to provide their name, address, and occupation, which I’d already done when checking in. I told her that we were in a hurry and she said it was actually fine, but it left a negative impression. If the staff knew that it wasn’t necessary to copy my Residence Card, why did they hassle me in the first place? 2. This property seems to have only one public bath. Men and women are assigned bathing times. While we were allowed to use a neighboring property’s bath too, that was much less convenient than being able to use the bath in the building at our desired time. 3. The room itself was comfortable but definitely showed signs of age/wear and tear. This Dormy Inn has a great location, and the chain itself is great. But I wouldn’t recommend this specific property, unless you only care about the location, for thr above reasons.

Excellent location with onsen with view, and loved the ability to use the two nearby onsens.

Room is clean, but it is probably an old smoking allowed hotel, kinda smell like when you visit your aunt that smoke under the cooking hood. Beside the odor the rest is fine an well place near metro lines.

We booked this hotel because of the public bath / spa within the property. Upon arrival, we found out that the spa is open for men only Monday, Tuesday , Wednesday and Thursday. Women only allow to use the spa Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 8pm and the rest of the days are men only. Not only the spa is not available to us (3 females) during our entire stay, I found that split between the genders is highly unfair. We were very disappointed about this arrangement. The front desk staff said the bathhouse hour is stated on their website but I was expecting such operating schedule and didn’t check the website ahead of time. The hotel offers a free entrance to the hotspring house nearby, but we didn’t end up going. Other than that, the amenities at the hotel is good, complimentary ramen at night, ice cream and popsicles.

Breakfasts was traditional Japanese. The staff was very helpful. Our views were great.

Very well situated and excellent staff and breakfast. Onsen available but small and looking jaded in need of an upgrade. Rooms were also very small even for Japan
